Op - worth pointing out it's actually a serious offence to pervert the course of justice by naming somebody else deliberately. A lot of high profile cases over last couple of years about similar offences.
Maybe ask for a photograph - if you still don't know maybe name the most likely culprit and write a small note on it. Something like 'we are not 100% sure which of the two of us was driving but most like __'. At least that way they'd struggle to do you for dishonesty.0 -
