Carers Allowance versus?

  • Define "live alone" -i.e. totally alone, or non dependents, what if in shared accommodation but live independent of each other. As my mum is severely disabled she's not my carer, Im as good as alone.
  • Anyway, assuming I get the SDP, can it be backdated in the ay CA can be? Also anyone got a reliable phone number to DLA offices, that doesn't involve the recorded message saying how busy they are etc etc

Then why is she claiming the carers premium?

You talk about "my folks" in other posts, is there another person as well as your mum?

She needs to stop claiming CA.

Will you be able to cope without the 35 hours minimum care she was giving? Or will this continue anyway? If she was claiming CA and not providing any care that would be well fraud.

Thanks but it would have been a lot easier if you had just answered my question. I had to read through all the posts again...

Maddoglady, because you and your mum both receive DLA providing there's no one else living in the house with you, you should be eligible to receive SDP. Once you have canceled CA you should ring IS to ask for a form for SDP. It will then be back dated from the time the CA stopped.
  • Thank you poppy12345, end of.
