I'm sorry nannytone but i couldn't understand some of what you wrote.
To be eligible for severe disability premium you must be in support group of ESA and receive at least middle rate DLA or any rate daily living PIP. Also If NO ONE claims carers allowance for you and you have no NON dependents living with you. If you answer yes to 3 of these then you'll be able to claim an extra £61.10 per week. You won't get this if you're claiming income support.
sorry about the other post .... if i start in the wrong place, then it tends to continue ;)

you dont have to be in the support group to receive the severe disability premium ...
just on any income related benefit and receiving kid/high DLA or any rate of PIP ( care)
so you can get SDP with either group IR ESA, JSA or income support

I get a premium on my income support of £44 a week.
on incone support and IR JSA ( though not ESA) there is a 'disability premium awarded to those who receive low rate care DLA

You don't get the premiums if you're in the WRAG group of ESA you only get them if you're in the support group.

    you are wrong.
people in the support group automatically get the enhanced disability premium.
if you are in the WRAG you only get this if you receive high rate care DLA or enhanced care PIP.
the severe disability premium is paid in both groups if you get middle rate care DLA or DL PIP.
these premiums are awarded to everyone receiving any income related out of work benefit if they have the relevant DLA/PIP award.( and who obviously meet the other criteria ... living alone/ no one claiming carers or living with another disabled person)
in addition, those on IS or IR JSA receive a 'disability premium' if they receive low rate care DLA
  • Please can we refocus, you're saying "live alone or with another disabled person" - my Mum is on DLA (HRC, HRM) so by living with her I would still qualify? And who do I need to talk to about all this please.

If your mum is the only person you live with and she won't be claiming CA for you, you'll qualify.

  • I'll call on Monday, she lives with me and is the one currently getting the "CA but not money" etc etc, so I want to stop that and get the SDP myself.
