Best effective cat litter

  • I use Professional Classic, which sounds very similar to Golden Grey, it last ages and I find it much less smelly/tracks less than wood pellets which I used to use. I have six cats, and agree that while the initial outlay seems a lot for the classic, it absorbs so well (340%) that it works out more economical in the long run.

Wilkinson's for us! Half the price of the 'leading brands,' and really good!

Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

  • Tesco value believe it or not! I've found it better than all the premium brands. I have 3 cats and 4 open litter trays that I never smell.
I just enter and forget...hoping to win something! :)

I use chick crumb (because the dogs can't help but grab a mouthful when they get the chance so I have to think of what they can eat- because they will eat it regardless.) It is a bit dusty but comes in a big sack that lasts for ages-clumps and so long as I clean it out daily doesn't smell. There are other similar animal feed products (baileys bread crumbs are brilliant) but the shop up the road sells the crumb and it is the most economic.

Suggest extra deep litter trays so the pee never hits the bottom- makes clean up much faster. Also worth investing in a decent metal scoop-no flicking.

Oko plus for me (well, my cats!) it's brilliant, tried lots including golden grey and keep going back to oko. It does track a bit but it is totally worth it.

I agree with this, I use a metal gardening trowel with a wooden handle for removing deposits.
  • We use Oko plus for our two cats. We've had them for 5 months and we're still on our first bag of litter - it's really brilliant stuff and I'm just so pleased that we had this recommended to us when we got our kittens :)

I use Silica Crystals Cat Litter from B&M, I've seen me go in when it's on offer and fill the trolley and just store it in the garage however it doesn't seem to last long. Just ordered Golden Grey as i've seen it has excellent reviews so hopefully it is as good as it gets!. I am also noticing I need an extra litter tray :)

Wood pellets here - went with that option as Bob had been using it at the animal shelter when we adopted him. we buy a massive bag (I think it's 30 litre) from BM/Home Bargains and it s £5.99. Lasts us about a month - and no odours :)

    Bless you for adopting <3

I have been using Tescos Lightweight Cat Litter (rising and falling price for no apparent reason) for years. it's pretty good. i have a fair few rescue/stray cats and some trays seem to last days and days and others are ruined the same day. very easy to remove mess. does seem to scatter a bit though and stick in their paws a bit. usually only find it around the tray though. sometimes leaves a dusty/smear trail in damp weather. just over £3 for 8 ltr bag.
Been thinking of changing for a while as it's not always easy to get. might give this golden grey a try but not sure how economical this will be with 11 cats :(

if I need 2 bags per month for my 4 boys then I would assume you would need 6 bags a month for 11 cats - that is about £60.00 per month.

How much are you spending on litter now?
