Agra palace Nuneaton, night ruined! :(

Last night I went for a rare meal out with my best friend, to Agra Palace in Nuneaton....within 10minutes the waiter's hand slipped and tipped my main course all over the table and onto me :(

A pair of trousers, bag and shoes potentially ruined..

Also the owner didn't seem apologetic at all, and tried to fob me off with a free diet coke!!!!
Horrible night :(

Yet you've neglected to mention you got the meal free eventually , right?

Agra palace seems remarkably cheap and gets good reviews.
    You asserted yourself,and they responded.
    What's the problem?

    Spot on.

    Tripadvisor
After the meal, I requested that it was free of charge due to the spillage and the owner reluctantly agreed!! He made it feel like I was being unreasonable...

£10-£11 free meal and ruined pair of shoes and jeans...also stained inside my bag which I didn't realize before.

Am I not entitled to be annoyed lol? More about their attitude to the situation..and making me feel guilty!

This is a praise, vent and warnings 'forum' and that is exactly what I have done. :)

i think they should have offered to pay for your cleaning bill as well.

They have offered to pay for my cleaning as well, but I didn't realise that when I posted this thread. It is a 15-20minute drive to the restaurant and I don't really want to drive there, drop my washing off, and then have to go back etc..I don't fancy facing the manager again either. :(

I am pleased others have had a good experience there. But this was mine and I have posted my opinion in the correct section...if each vent gets shot down then what is really the point?

You didn't do anything wrong posting.

Unfortunately there are some very unpleasant people, here, whose one joy in life seems to be to patrol these forums and try to make themselves feel worthwhile by belittling others.

    It's quite sad, really.

I think the below reply that the restaurant have given is more than fair. Accidents happen and they are sorry and are offering all they can to rectify the situation. Do you really need to leave bad reviews in a variety of places? Have you never done anything wrong by accident?

AgraPalace, Owner at Agra Palace, responded to this review, yesterday

    Dear Customer

Further to your recent visit and review, I would firstly like to apologise profusely again for the unfortunate accident that occurred whilst serving your food by one of my waiting staff.
The member of staff in question was very distraught after the incident and I believe he apologised profusely to you a few times.

I stress this was an accident, a human error on our part and we tried our utmost to appease, apologise and compensate you, but I think that our apology was not accepted by yourself.
When the waiter slipped and spilt the curry he immediately used his service towel to clean up and straight away two other waiters came with napkins, wet towels etc to clean the table and offer yourself towels and wet towels for cleaning.
Your table was changed and shortly afterwards your meals arrived and you were given two complimentary drinks as a way of apology.

After you finished your meal you came to the bar area and notified me that you do not wish to pay the bill due to the spillage, which I accepted straight away not reluctantly as you claim.

I further stated that we would be happy to pay for your laundry charges.

I believe that we have compensated you and your friend by not charging for meals and drinks however if you feel that your jeans and shoes are ruined please bring them to me as we can get them professionally cleaned and if you are not satisfied by the cleaning we will gladly replace your jeans and shoes. Your jeans and shoes would not be damaged or stained because the curry that fell on them was a mild Butter Chicken which does not contain any turmeric or any kind of spice that permanently stains items of clothing.

Once again on behalf of myself and my staff please accept our sincere apologies for the unfortunate accident.
