As a small business I believe you can charge LA's interest for late payment - or is that only if the bill is not disputed. I would sell the business on the basis of buyer beware - it's up to them to do their own due diligence and if they have enough reserves they may be able to cope with late payment better than you.
Sounds very frustrating though. Don't let them suck your joy today. What are you going to do for fun today?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks SH, unfortunately we are coming up to LA year end and chaos ensues as they balance their books. I have a perfect audit trail, so will get it sorted eventually. I mustn't throw the baby out with the bathwater, but it is so, so tempting. I never thought about charging interest, I will look into that. This is why I love posting here, because it gets things out of my head and I hear other perspectives too. Thank you again.
Having a duvet day today. I helped organise an OAP afternoon tea, with a friend, yesterday for 30 people and it went really well. They all brought along pictures of themselves as young children and we had a who's who quiz and then name that tune, where we played the first few lines from a song from the 50's or 60's and they had to guess the title of the song and then sing along. Those that wanted to had a wee dance, it was extremely good fun and they were all really game for a laugh. Found myself bopping with a 94 year old to 'Peggy Sue'.
Friend has loads of beautiful china, teapots and cake stands, like the lady on 'Escape to the Chateau', that we used, so it was very elegant and made me want to collect my own mix and match set.

The tea party sounds like brilliant fun. It takes us out of ourselves to make a difference in there people's lives. I love vintage china too. Makes teas so much more special. Hi dia,
I didn't realise that I really loved vintage china, until Saturday. One large tea-pot was absolutely exquisite, emblazoned with a gold leaf, Victorian design, which I coveted.
Duvet days are ace and the experience will be further enhanced, over Easter, when our bedroom gets transformed into a chill heaven, the MSE way.
I had thought very hard about saying 'yes' to the tea party but I am glad I did. It seemed to energise me and I think in 'my gut', I knew it would. Need to pay more attention to 'my gut', in all ways.
I parked the 'credit control issues' in a garage at the back of my brain, but this morning it is honking loudly, for attention. I will move it out of my brain now and into the quantum realm for eventual resolution. I made the decision below and I will stick it on my vision board, with a picture of a big ship going through the Suez canal. Decision made, direction determined, I will not allow it any more head space.
I am going to have a bath now and practice an exercise called 'cutting the ties that bind', which helps me to let go of things from my energy field and create barriers to them coming back in. The noose, referred to below, is actually getting lifted over my head now. My relationship with my business, is going to change from today. I am too personally attached to it and we need to have separate identities if we are going to partner or eventually separate.
I actually feel that this is another light bulb moment. I was made redundant in 2008, at the height of the credit crunch, from a senior management position with a finance company. I absolutely loved that job, but because so much of my identity was tied up in it, the redundancy was devastating to my psyche. I think I am finally recovering from that now too, 12 years on. Again a lot of this boils down to boundary issues!!!
"I will give it my best shot, but will move on to pastures new, guilt free, in September 2020, without this noose around my neck, if I am not completely satisfied with the outcome of my complaint. This lady is not for turning".

The tea party and dance sound fantastic. I agree about vintage china. I managed to get some 1960 Majestic gold and burgundy china in a charity shop for £12.50. I was thrilled to bits and used it at Christmas and for MIL's birthday and other special events. I would happily buy more if I saw some of the same set. At charity shops in a posh village/town near me they nearly always have some vintage china - British Hrt F seems to do particularly well for china and crystal. Worth a go.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I used to be a charity shop aficionado, but have hardly ventured in during the last few years. It would make a great project, building up a set, the mse way. I am sure I can pick some up in Provence. I think it is also a cheap way of entertaining; scones and sandwiches can manifest on a shoestring, as can soup!
I had the company's website altered, yesterday, to remove all reference to me and it felt incredibly liberating. There was quite a bit about me, in the history part and it felt far too personal now. I am starting to think of the 'brand' as an entity outside of myself that needs to treat me as a valued employee! If it doesn't, I will walk, and the brand can be moved on .....
Amazing, sunny morning - heading off to the office now. The hyacinth has been in full bloom and has given me a lot of pleasure. It is the 3rd March 2020 and for the first time this year, I feel spring like, reborn.

Sounds amazing mms! 🎉 it's always incredibly liberating when you disassociate your identity from your proffesional role - I would imagine that you feel the same with the brand 😉 it's obviously the right thing at the right time for you ...enjoy your new found freedom and always follow your instincts 😁2

Thanks Squirrelgirl, that is incredibly helpful. Amazingly, it never really occurred to me, before, that people could disassociate their identity from their professional role. Sometimes, I am truly gobsmacked that I have got to 54, read so much and yet know so little!
I think that part of my problem, was that because of the way the encephalitis affected my brain, I seemed to merge with everything and everybody. At first I thought it was a religious experience, but was assured that it was because the part of the brain, associated with the sense or self/ego had been damaged. It made me really question 'faith' too, because I thought, are all the prophets in the bible, who heard the voice of God either epileptics or schizophrenics? Is the meditative experience of 'Nirvana'/enlightenment' actually dangerous, because all you are doing is switching off the 'sense of self' and connecting with either nothingness, or everything, depending on your understanding of consciousness. I was always a deep thinker lol? Now I am pretty happy, just going with the flow and figuring out my own path in life, with a little help from my friends, live and let live.
A lot of my friends are losing parents, just had this forwarded on to me. Flying off to see my dad tomorrow, very grateful that he is still with me, not sure for how much longer, but will treasure the time that remains.

I hope you enjoy your time with your father.
Your posts are so interesting and there is often something that makes me think. The merging of my professional and personal selves has happened since I began to work for myself and one of the risks is when I (inevitably) get turned down for some of the things i apply for I am bound to feel the impact more so I need to address this and find a way to minimise the impact.
