Missing Cheque Not Cashed By Me

If you are based in GB rather than NI, then that sends up another fraud flag - it being deposited across the border can slow things down meaning fraudster is more likely to get away with funds.
While the rest of your post seems pretty reasonable I'm puzzled as to where you think there is a border between GB and NI.0 -

The cheque clearing system in GB is separate to the cheque clearing system in NI. Use of the term 'border' is simply short hand given that arrangement
Thanks for that, despite having worked on clearing systems some years ago I wasn't aware of the separate NI system. In fact I see that clearing is actually done in Dublin, so you're right that there is a border involved.

The title of this entity is The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland. Great Britain being England, Scotland & Wales with Northern Ireland being t'other bit!
Yes, and Northern Ireland only has a border (geographical and political) with the Republic of Ireland, not with the GB parts of the UK. So I accept Armorica's explanation, but your post means nothing.0 -

Yes and no; it's operated in Dublin but the legalities are in Belfast. The key point here is the difference between GB and NI (and the challenges with transporting cheques across the sea in certain weather conditions). It's not a big deal, but it may be another little bit of evidence that would support any assertion of fraud.
http://www.paymentscouncil.org.uk/who_do_we_work_with/payments_schemes/bbcc/about_bbccl/ is the NI arrangement (and of course, there are links between the two sets of arrangements - but that starts to get into detail that isn't strictly necessary for the OP lol)0 -
Here's an obvious question for you:- have willhill got your correct address?
from barclays bank
What is a banker's draft and how do I get one?
A banker's draft is useful for larger purchases. It is secure because only the named payee can use the draft.0 -
Armorica, I've sent you a copy of the front of the cheque.
Yes, WillHill had my correct address.
So are we saying the cheque was definitely banked in Northern Ireland? I live in London and the cheque was cashed exactly one week after it was printed by WillHill. Seems like it got there very quickly.0 -
