    Thanks for your reply.
Not sure about the percentage but it was a £50 voucher they offered. I mention in my latest post what the crew did and said, they assumed she was drunk.

OK, how much did you pay for your flight?

The point I'm trying to make is that if you paid £100 for the flight, a £50 voucher is 50% of the total.

If you paid £50 for the flight, and would book another flight with the same airline (using the £50 voucher) they are giving you a refund of the cost of the flight.

I think what you paid for the flight is important if you want people to comment on whether £50 is a fair offer or if you should take legal action. It will give some perspective of the value of the offer to you.

I think (and I think you now realise) that you should have approached the crew to complain specifically about this passenger instead of expecting them to notice that in addition to just being loud she was also physically harassing you.

    Hi Pollycat
I appreciate your rationale in dealing with my question.
I paid £296.00 for the flight and I believe I have had 25% back in the voucher, could be wrong. I hear what you say re raising issue on board even if it makes me unpopular, it is a lot less daunting than coming on here to be picked on by some posters.

The £50 voucher is actually just under 17% of the price of your ticket.

If you will use the voucher on another flight, I think I would accept the offer.

In your first post you mention possibly going through small claims.
As you have acknowledged that you didn't specifically bring this harassment to the attention of cabin crew, I'm not sure you have a strong case.

Other posters may have a different opinion to mine though.

It sounds like if you had spoken to cabin crew, the only person you would have been unpopular with was the woman behind you doing the harassing.
From what you said in earlier posts, other passengers were supportive of you.

She was in a group of around ten others and were quite loud from the outset, as soon as they came into the lounge. Surely they would have noticed if she was drunk before she boarded.
I have already written to the airline now but will take on board your advice.
You are a credit to this forum Pollycat, I thought it would all be like this and have since become a bit wary of asking for advice on here, due to a small percentage of negative replies that became quite personal.
I appreciate all the positive responses and thanks to all for taking the time.

Even if they'd noticed they still might not have done anything.

I was on a Monarch flight last year and the couple in front of me were horribly, horribly drunk. I don't know if they'd been in the bar before they boarded but they bought and drank three bottles of champagne on the flight.

They were cheerful drunks at least ... though understandably disappointed when they couldn't figure out how to have sex an hour before landing.

It brought a whole new meaning to "in-flight entertainment" :)

    Thanks Mands
you have made me laugh, i am surprised they were allowed to buy so much, you remember that programme about easyjet? they were so picky and passengers were being penalised all the time for being tipsy etc, makes you wonder.
It was on a Monarch flight that someone`s hair was set on fire recently, I just brought that up to highlight Monarch and what happens on their flights even though it was not part of my specific problem but was still pulled up about it on here.
Sounds like you had an interesting flight though.
    cheers

    Was it recently though?

Or was it several years ago?

If it was the incident I've found on Google it was in May 2012 and it was a chap on a stag party who thought it would be fun to set his friend's hair on fire.
According to the newspapers, other passengers thought it was a prank.

No airline could foresee that happening and put a stop to it.
The plane was en-route to Majorca from Manchester and was diverted to Gatwick and the passenger arrested.

I think people thought your comment about that incident was just not relevant to your complaint. :)

In another of your posts you mention the crew told this woman off for laughing during the safety demonstration.
If you had drawn their attention to the fact she was harassing you, they may have dealt with her more severely.

We were on a Monarch flight some time ago and a man opposite me started abusing the girl in front because her braided hair was hanging over the back of her seat.
He made a number of racist comments and the stewardess stepped in pretty quickly, warned the guy, moved the girl and told her she would back her up if she wished to make a complaint.

I think it was a couple of weeks back I read about it on yahoo, mind you most of their stories are inaccurate anyway, but yes it does sound like the same incident unless it is a regular feature on Monarch flights.
She started misbehaviour with me after being reprimanded by the crew and banned from being served alcohol.
I just thought it was a oneoff at first and would stop, but it kept happening and even after I looked back at her, I even thought other passengers might object to her swearing, I did not know what to do really or how long too put up with it, it felt quite dark not just drunkenness. At one point I was going to slip a little note to the crew when i was paying for coffee but thought she might be indiscreet. Lessons have been learnt

I do think it's a real pity that you didn't alert the crew (although I can understand why you didn't) and give them the chance to do something about it.
