People shouldn't panic with negative feedbacks, its life..... just get used too it.

I know it makes your profile look bad, but you can always reply back a comments such as...

"the buyer is making this up"

    or

"I tried contacting him, but he didn't reply to emails"

So you can make them sound worse than you,

If it gets introduced on the .com site, it is very likely it will be on the .co.uk site soon after

It's already on .co.uk - there's a discussion on the Powersellers board about it.

Why do people worry so much!!

I'm always more concerned with positive feedback that says - poor quality item. Then Neutral/Negative that says, it took 4 days to receive the item!!

Well worded polite reponses are also a good way to counteract neg/neuts. Reponses that say ignore the ***** (insert word) don't inspire me to buy!!!

there are people in the UK that are having their accounts restricted for this, thye can only list 50% for 3 months, and some that did not look that bad, ie one or 2 negs over 9 months, couple of neutrals, what the comments or reasons are not taken into account - like most things it is designed to stop the poor sellers, but will catch some innocent ones

what about the person who gets a rash of negative feedback deliberately? ie by a competitor, or someone else with a grudge? - ebay are telling the sellers affected to contact the others and ask for mutual feedback removal to reuce their poor performance %, something I dont agree with,

so non payer- answers once on dispute, so they can leave a neg , this counts against you, even though you have not done anything wrong. the buyer is not going to remove their feedback for that are they? esp if it NARU'd them

Seems like a policy that could do wonders for the likes of Tazbar and Ebid. Maybe its some altruistic scheme on the part of Ebay to give their competition a shot in the arm?

    HI
I have noticed change after change on ebay recently that are there to shoot themselves in the foot it seems. A buyer left me a neutral today because the manufacturers description was wrong, not my description. YEs I left them a negative as they were wrong to leave me a neutral for things beyond my control and I will continue to do so. I am first in the queue when a competitior to ebay and the post office is realistic and they are both making it easy for the competition.

It is your responsibility for the description you use on your listing. You cannot teflon that off by saying 'It woz them, not me'! [assuming you had copied the manufacturers description and was incorrect as well]
  • i'd always rather not leave feedback at all in the case of a rogue transaction in case you get a spiteful one back in return, then again i only use ebay to buy so it's not a case of life and death for me at present, but one day i'll start to sell i guess??

I have to disagree, this IS something to worry about now. eBay DO NOT listen to reason, no matter what follow-up comments are left by the seller, if they do not make the percentage, they are out. Simple as that. We are all aware of how easy it is to negotiate with eBay...

Although I do not rely solely on my eBay income, it does fund many luxuries in my life, I know people who have wives, kids, mortgages etc to keep from their eBay income. Now idiot buyers and unscrupulous competitors are in a prime position to jeopardise this.

So yes, I should worry if a couple of unwarranted neutrals could affect my ability to provide for my dependants. Leaving a follow-up comment is no compensation when you have bills to pay.

Well, I'll be putting this to the test later today - just had a neutral with "DVD scratched" as a comment. No prior correspondance, no request for a replacement or refund, and nothing to say if it still works or not. The dvd was listed as used, and is around 6 years old, but still played perfectly when I checked it before listing.

I've messaged them asking for further details, and to bear in mind that any commnet I leave for them will be reflective of the communication and willingness to resolve issues amicably.

No feedback left for them yet, but although I am not happy with neutral, I can stomach it easier than they could take a neg. The feedback left for other suggest they are a bit trigger happy as well, so "inability to communicate and amicably resolve issues" is being prepared as a retort.

Call it retalitory or petty if you like, but it is a factual statement and accurately reflects my selling experience with the buyer. Afterall, that's what leaving feedback is all about isn't it....?
