Maybe, but not as silly as the current one.

Recently had my bathroom redone and plumber said what size towel radiator to get if I did not want the expense and hassle of altering the pipework. You needed to buy a wider one!

    What a load of crock

You would need a towel rad 850mm plus wide judging from what was left

Radiators come in 100mm widths (plus valves)most towel rads are 368/468/578 widths between connections

  • That looks awful!

If I fitted a towel rail like that I would be expecting the sack!

Its pure laziness, the pipes needed altering before the floor was tiled, and that would have involved draining the heating, which piping it up this way, he has avoided.
And as pointed out the towel rail is upside down.

As you said your workman tiled the floor I cant understand why he didn't do the alterations to the pipework.

I think referring to him as a plumber may be stretching the truth, maybe at best an odd-job man, or maybe just doing it as a hobby.
  • Ok so towel rail isn't upside down has a shown a full picture that would hace been clearer.
He's coming today to fix it.

He says he needs straight valves instead of the ones supplied& a coupler to connect them is this right? Another £25

Stick to you guns - it's his ballsup in the first place - yes it will cost him another pair of valves, but he should be paying to rectify his bodge.

If you think he's going to refuse to do it, then don't mention it and then deduct 25 from his 'bill' when completed.

And fyi: this is what they cost....

  • Well I got the towel rail & these came with it. Going to see what it looks loke with flexi pipe coming up centrally then splitting as would save needing new valves.

But would look just as bad - do the job properly - as said before it needs straight chrome 'tails' at a bare minimum, forget anything flexi :)

Didn't know valves came with rad - in which case pay for the new ones.

    HTH
