What I the connection speed like with EE and do you notice the traffic shaping?0

Oh My God what a narrow escape
I was about to sign up for this deal but this entire thread makes for appalling reading - I'll go elsewhere even if it is more expensive.
Hope things improve for all those of you stuck for the next 12 months with EE - and thanks for posting up your feedback to help newcomers like me avoid this bunch of cowboys !
if anyone is interested, I've been with tesco phone and broadband for the past 2 years. £11.50/month line rental if paid upfront for the year plus £7/month for 24/7 all-you-can-eat landline calls and data. Good experience all the way, good customer service, good internet, no switching issues... would recommend ... will not be switching to EE0 -
Think I'll try Plusnet, Sky or Bt rather than this.0

No problems here. Signed up and got voucher within 90 days. No chasing was required.0

Can anyone clarify who is eligible please? Through sheer inertia and never having any real issues I have been with freeserve, wanadoo, orange and now by default EE. However I don't have a time-limited contract with them - just pay by DD. Their CS say I can use the deal but when I tried to clarify they just cut the call. If not then could my wife who isn't party to the original agreement?
A big issue seems to be keeping your existing phone number - can this be done or do you have to have a new one?
Thanks0 -

Hi gartstr
I believe MSE passed you a umber to call to clairfy these questions. The number is 08000795213. They should be able to answer any queries and place the order for you with the voucher offer.
Thanks

First, I'd like to thank Jade Taylor at Affiliate Window (jade.taylor@affiliatewindow.com) for patiently and politely sorting out my failure to receive the Amazon voucher. It was refreshing to deal with someone connected with this who takes her company's responsibilities seriously.
Second, as the thread requests feedback on the deal generally, may I say that I regretted the switch for a couple of reasons other than my voucher issues and will be switching away from EE in due course. There are two main reasons, the second being more significant from a money-saving point of view:
1) The wireless function on my Brightbox router failed after the day after I installed it. I had a long and pointless call with EE support (in India, I presume) to go through the technical check of the router from my browser, which I had already done. Being busy and not wishing to repeat the experience I've lived without wireless in the house for 5 months but I may take it up with them again in the New Year.
2) Previously I had been with the Post Office broadband and was paying about £33 a month for line rental, broadband and phone calls. Our phone usage is approximately the same as before but now I'm with EE, I'm paying about the same each month for broadband and calls only, having ponied up the line rental for the year in advance. I think the reason we are paying more is that the landline calls are significantly more expensive.
So, even with the Amazon voucher I'm not saving any money with this deal!0 -
I'm really beginning to wish I hadn't signed up to EE.
8th December: Line went live. Router still hadn't arrived. Called up support, after nearly 2 hours on the phone, they worked out the broadband order was never placed, so it needed re-doing. Told it'll take up to a week.
15th December: Router arrives. Still no broadband. Promised it'll be live tomorrow.
16th December: Get a text from EE saying it's live and ready to go. Plug in router - nothing. Call up support, they run through the basic things, and the not so basic things (including asking me to crawl under the stairs and unscrew my BT socket!?!?!). Still no wiser, so have to wait for a callback from an engineer tomorrow.
17th December - 2nd Line Tech calls back, runs tests, concludes that the fault lies with the BT line (which I doubt because it was working perfectly with TalkTalk broadband before the switch). Books a BT engineer to visit the exchange on 23rd December. I ask if the engineer will need to visit my house - says no, he will not.
22nd December - A call out of the blue from a BT engineer. He's 20 minutes away and wants to visit my house. Luckily, Mrs B has just popped home, and has to wait in. BT engineer visits the exchange, everything's fine. Visits the house, everything's fine. Visits the exchange again at my request, just to be sure. Everything's fine. Says most likely, EE haven't set up the broadband correctly on their end. Recommends calling EE.
Later on 22nd December - Phone EE tech support. After 25 minutes waiting on hold, he tries to get hold of BT Openreach, can't, so says he'll have to "escalate" (read: pass the buck) back to Openreach to look at it tomorrow.
I can't believe that MSE endorsed a deal from such an incompetent company.0 -
Tried to sign up for home broadband through quidco on Saturday. Email said credit check was processing and I'd hear back within a working day. I haven't...0
