Harry Potter Not Delivered!

I don't know what possessed me to order Harry Potter online as I have never done this before, I have always managed to get the books from supermarkets.

I ordered Harry Potter on Play on Tuesday, the advertisement on their site stated that if you ordered it before Wednesday they would guarantee delivery for Saturday morning. So I got up early this morning as our postman has a habit of not bothering to knock the door, but my book was not delivered.

Husband has gone out to supermarket for me to pick up a copy as I don't want to wait as I am sure the media will spoil the ending for me.

All I can say is there must be many people in a similar position, probably many with children who I am sure will be sorely disappointed. Looking at reports online at least Amazon had the courteosy to email all customers it would not be able to deliver to on the day and offer them a £5 voucher.

I think this has completely put me off ordering online.

Is there anyone else out there in a similer situation?

I don't know if this will apply to your area or not but the last time I ordered the Harry Potter book online it wasn't my normal postman that delivered it - it was a postvan that came slightly later delivering everybody's books along with parcels, etc.

I cannot see a postman doing this today otherwise his bag would weigh a ton. With the amount of orders out there it has to be done by van.

It depends on how many books the postie has on his rounds to deliver, and the policy for packages at your local delivery office. Some will come with your regular postie, and some on the van.

Some books did arrive very late from Amazon at the mail centres yesterday and I know people went in on overtime to get them shifted through the system for delivery today.

I got a text from hubby this morning, who was very pleased as he didn't have any books to deliver on his walk :D

I ordered all 7 books from Redhouse in the week. Site said that as I had ordered before Thursday I would get them on day of release. I haven't got them yet. Not too bothered though as I haven't read the first one yet even though I have the first 6 on my bookshelf......odd story :D

Not about Harry Potter, but ...

A colleague got a cardboard box delivered on Thursday, addressed to the previous occupant, who moved over a year ago.

He called the courier company, and the firm from whom the stuff was ordered. As you can guess, to start with, they didn't listen properly, and thought he was their customer complaining that the order hadn't come.

He can't get anyone to commit to coming to fetch it, as they reckon they delivered it, and have a signature.

By the way, he wasn't at home when it came, and it was left under a bush in the corner of the garden. Imagine what a box of books would look like if he'd been away for a couple of days, and it had stayed out in yesterday's rain.
