Or try being four months pregnant travelling alone with a three year old on an eleven hour flight with a five hour flight delay and absolutely no information. Mmmm stuck at Heathrow for eight hours (nice). Got offered 10% discount off my next booking! Gee thanks!

Or stuck in freezing Lapland on a four hour delay on Christmas Eve/Day, temp -25C, cramped in a tiny terminal at Kittila with no idea whether we'd make it home for Christmas. The pilot had to half hang out of the door to scrap the ice off the door seals as the plane had been on the runway so long and the doors wouldn't shut. We laugh about it now

Flight delays do suck....but I always find that I'm so grateful to eventually be in the air, that I soon forget how frustrating it can be. I hope that your holiday wasn't really ruined.

......or a 5 hour delay to Marseille meaning you don't arrive until 1am, too late to pick up your hire car & drive to your (already paid for) hotel for the night & have to sleep in the airport until the car hire desk opened the next morning.........

You could contact the "SUN". They may send a reporter round to take a photo of you all sitting on the couch with really glum looks on your faces. I can just imagine the headline-"Easyjet ruined my life" .Hopefully they will start a campaign and get other people whose lifes have been ruined by 1 or 2 hour delays with budget airlines to highlight their misery and put a stop to this disgrace. ;)

You cannot expect much out of Easyjet for 2h delay. That is a fact of life. You choose this airline because they offered cheaper prices. In today's travel terms, you cannot always expect to arrive on time (too many people in the air). Got delayed 3h exactly with Easyjet back in April. Got £3 voucher to spend at the airport where the cheapest snack was about £4.
Surely 2h cannot have spoiled your holiday....?...Or was this flight YOUR holiday?

I was last year delayed for 8h on national flight out of Moscow's Sheremetievo. We only got 1 x voucher for $10 and no airline representative to speak to (Aeroflot)...All announcements in Russian etc. Smokey departure hall....Imagine the scene.
In such cases you just have to bare it and think of better times.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that a string of compensation claims can only lead to a hike in prices. If budget airlines are to continue to offer cheap flights, then we should not expect the same level of service as applies to those who travel on scheduled flights at a much higher price.

Also, I think you need to be clear who is responsible for any delay before you claim for compensation. Was it the airline? Air traffic control? The weather? Other passengers p1$$ing about?

Don't simply blame the airline. And consider whether, overall, you got value for money albeit with some inconvenience.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

OK then so maybe it wasn't that bad and people have had much worse stories, I'll just go and find a hole to dig myself somewhere and not bother anyone for a while :o

Trolly Dolly - forgiven, wasn't that offended but nice of you to apologise, appreciated your first comment anyway

Purely to show that delays are not always entirely the airline's fault, I flew to Prague with EasyJet in February. Coming home, we were informed that due to a technical problem with one of the aircraft earlier in the day, the flights between East Midlands and Prague had been running late all day but that they had managed to make up a bit of time each flight and the delay was now down to 30 mins. When our aircraft arrived, the air bridge malfunctioned and they had to get the passengers off via the traditional steps. This created a further 30 min delay which EasyJet could do nothing about.

I have no connection with EasyJet by the way, only as a satisfied customer!

You can't complain about a delayed flight coming home!!!! I can't see that ruining my holiday only making it better - the holiday was extended (maybe easyjet should charge you?) and you have an excuse to go to late work as your flight was delayed!

Seriously though if you are delayed for two hours on the road is there anyone to get compensation from - what about sueing the lorry driver who broke down.

The key is always plan ahead and expect delays. Aim to arrive at the airport an hour or so early (in case you have difficulty getting there through traffic problems or car breakdown etc) and always expect to arrive later than the scheduled time. If you get back early its a bonus.
