Currys PC World experience rant

Just one thing Lulu - check your paperwork for clandestine transactions.
Really dodgy company, still.
Bought a laptop in June and the salesman surreptitiously added a 'Product Support' monthly mandate to my credit card without asking if I wanted it and without informing me of what he had done. Missed it the first time on my card statement, only spotted the second one going out a month later. Customer services said it was my fault as it was up to me to check that they hadn't done this - in other words, it's not up to PC World NOT to diddle the customer.... it's up to the customer to check that they are not being diddled. Nice !
This is the kind of activity I would expect from a back street second hand car dealer or dodgy double glazing salesman - not from a supposedly reputable high street retailer. Have they never heard of the Consumer Protection From Unfair Trading Regulations ?
PC World, nice business to do people with !0 -
A sales assistant should know the basics of what they are selling. I think I would have put in a complaint. 1. They showed a distinct lack of knowledge about the product on offer. 2. They showed absolutely no interest in helping you at all by the sounds of it. 3. laws regarding mis-selling. My partner discovered that he was paying for 'product support' when he didn't ask for it. Beware of this shop. I wouldn't trust them at all.0

I was in a branch last December in Leicester and I was standing with my Dad admiring a £3.6k 4k tv (which looked awful) when a chap swaggers over with a big grin (thinking £3.6k sale), "can I help you?", "yes, take me to your toasters".
Made him take me all the way upstairs for a £16 sale. Happy days.0 -

Making some poor sod on around minimum wage and a zero hours contact even more miserable?
What a hero you are are.0 -
Can't believe you bought anything from there after that experience!0

And that achieved what?
Making some poor sod on around minimum wage and a zero hours contact even more miserable?
What a hero you are are.
With respect, the poster was simply looking at a television (which people are allowed to do without the intention of purchasing) and got approached by a member of staff.
It is very unlikely that the poster has done this to antagonize a member of staff and I suspect that they are merely reflecting on how the experience has played out.0
