Life has been a muddle since Boxing Day, but I've managed to sneak 2 whole days of hedging without anyone noticing.:D It's been calm, mild and dry, which makes a significant difference when up on that roadside bank. The wind can fairly whip across there in winter, so the more done, the better.

I have a great bonfire pile there now, ready to go tonight if the wind's right. :jOur posh neighbour down the road will, no doubt, provide fireworks of a suitable calibre....I heard them testing some two days ago.

Your son will find out that winter's just delayed, wellies. I saw a similar display of geraniums in the little town last week and our own collection is looking quite perky, but they're in the inner sanctum of the polytunnel, which gives them a false sense of security. :shhh:

You know that, I know that. My son has the optimism of youth and has yet to learn - and he will.
He has spent the last three days rewiring his new house and setting up solar panels - I'll never learn that!

I've not ventured out much, I've been rearranging rooms and stuff, all getting a bit much for mother so have had to spend some time just sitting with her

Wishing everyone a happy and productive New Year.

The bells haven't been rung yet. So will keep my good wishes until then.

Been cold here but dry so that was better walking weather than slurping about in the mud.

Managed to get OH to eventually replace two tiles in the porch that had risen & jambed the door so had to be chipped out. Still not grouted in as yet but I've only been nagging/asking for 6 months. Looks a lot better though than it did.

You're all set for first footing then, choille! Sorry I can't make it; I'll be by a bonfire on a hill waiting for the fireworks....:j
Smashing image maggie, but then you're a pro! ;)

(Looks like we might all have to be one of those, judging by emails I've received lately! :()

I can't compete with that landscape, so here's my house scape....Clicks up large, then larger:

Happy New Year to all. I don't go out for the fireworks, as rather too many flighty animals here and, even though most bangs are far away, they still get spooked, the dog-dog most of all.

I was out just now, sharp frost for once, and I walked down the water meadow to change over one of the small pumps that cheat the river of a little flow. Crust on the puddles, and bright sky above. Betelgeuse still there, so no supernova yet.

We have expanded quite a bit, hence the paucity of reports. Bit more land, lots more hooves. I spend as much time here as I can now, rarely going off for real work, thanks be to Broadband. OH still bops off to exciting places from time to time, but I prefer the silence here.

Anyway, I will build up the fires, then wander round the fields for a midnight peacekeeping mission. Bed, sober and tired thereafter.

Let's hope 2020 brings less chaos and more sense. Well, I can wish for the impossible, can't I?

Just been sitting by the front door watching the first light start, when I saw a shooting star! So lucky! Sky is deep red now, so back out to watch the dawn. Happy New Year!
