I don't think I am as enamoured with Mr B Johnson as the other chap woz.
It doesn't take much to upset folks over there. If it helps, I'm not very enamoured with Mr Johnson either, not that it matters here. As I said on one of those half dozen voting threads, the folks here would elect a sheep if it was wearing the right rosette. It might get more done too! :rotfl:

And no way could I vote for Johnson's man anyway, when a few years ago he refused to meet DW and me, once his minder had given us the 3rd degree on what it was about. :mad:Democracy? Representation? Pfft! :p

I ought to know better. Back in the day, (a rather brief one before they asked me to consider my position...and the length of my hair!) I used to sit in Whitehall writing replies to MPs, who'd then pretend they'd consulted the Minister. Only rarely did anything good come of it. Sometimes, something bad happened, and then I wouldn't write anything.....hence the falling on the sword bit. :o

All water under (Westminster) bridge now.

Plenty water here too. We've lost a big eleagnus and a small cotoneaster, both blown right over in the soggy conditions. :(

I wouldn't have you down as a Whitehall chappie!;)

I have a birch tree that a large part of its bark has peeled right back.

I have a few dead trees down in the gorge - I don't know if it's a disease....or if it's just the wet loosening them as they are shallow rooted. I should ask someone I suppose.

It's been really a cold Winter so far - we normally get most of the icy blast into the New Year but we've had a fair bit so far this last month or so.

In my defence, neither did I. I thought I'd applied for a job in Bristol with the Min of Ag and Fish. :wall:

I was re-assigned. It was probably a good thing, as it taught me the sort of job I'd not like, or be any good at.

My uncles, and most of my cousins were in the civil service, banking, or insurance. My parents were forever telling me how well they were all doing, so the career path was mapped-out. When I gave it up, it must've been as traumatic for my folks as when a cousin told her Dad she wanted to marry a black man.

I escaped he halls of government and ended up cleaning wealthy people's houses instead. My cousin didn't get to marry the Kenyan. She's 80 and still mentions it with regret.

I used to be a civil servant on an emergency desk. Shift work but part time so I could fit it in with the other 5 P/T jobs I had.

Once you've been self employed it sort of spoils you for anything else I reckon.

Shame about the Cousin - a bit like Princess Margaret but probably not.
How the pressures of what is the right and wrong of a situation from someone else's perspective can have such long reaching impacts on those that matter.

Lovely starry night out there when I took collie wobble up the track. I don't know what the weather will do but it feels slightly milder although the grass is crisp.

That's so clever, alfie! :T Did you do it in the dark, in one go, or has it had a lot of adjustment?

I'm expecting quite a lot of swearing too. DW has bought quite a few new lights, which should work OK, but there are now loads of old ones, which might not. :(

We do Christmas large; always have done, and the quantity of [STRIKE]tat[/STRIKE] decorations increases year on year. Some decorations go back to the 40s or 50s....heirlooms!

I think it's down to the fact that both of us used to suffer with SAD. That's nowhere near so bad here as it was in the city.

I made a life size flat chicken wire horse then outlined it with lights [+ mane n tail] THEN hovering in half light over a ditch I managed to secure it all to a VERY prickly hedge [about 10ft high] and unceremoniously fell in said ditch after ! yes I had to do it lit and im still adjusting .... this week it will be joined by a multi coloured harness and cart ,if I have a few tipples [not topples ! ] it may even be a bow top wagon !!
I get these ideas and don't know why I HAVE to follow through on them !! stubbornness ! hehehehe
