    so glad izzy was safe..
we have a lot of cats go missing in my local town [lym] sadly a few have been knocked down and a few just end up being fed by someone else and they just move in !! the rest seem to be returned safely.

we have had a spate of people losing their dogs in the forest... and its a BIG place. some have been feral for up to 2 weeks before found ... there is a local FB page which seems to get everyone and their aunty out looking which is great. there is one lady with a tracker dog who has had great success.
luckily my mutts have plenty of space here to roam round and I rarely actually walk them out on the forest.. mind you bimble has a selective hearing problem, dolly HAS a hearing problem and dusty just ignores me so not a great recipe for "walking out there" .....

took mum into hosp today to have 2 more skin C's taken off [she has had about 7-8 already done] she was only in there for half an hour but came out like Frankenstein with a row of stitches across her neck and arm !! for 86 she's a game old gal and just takes it all in her stride .... more than I would !!

another lovely day here again and im sat with the patio doors open..
ive jus started to clear the carp from the potential greenhouse area. I have a huge pile of slate chippings there [another hands up "i'll have it" moment ! ] that I have to shift but not sure where im going to put it yet .....
I really have to clean my house !! well at least hoover as it is hard to distinguish the dogs beds from the carpet !

have a good week peeps. x

Glad Izzy turned up Dave - such a worry.

Went round the wood again and still loads of toads - or are they frogs - mating away on the path - no shame at all. Lovely day later on.

Think there's been quite a bad accident just down the road - can see a few fire engines, police cars and an ambulance or two & loads of people in bright yellow jackets and someone has been down the cliff to the shore on a rope. Goodness knows what is afoot but doesn't bode well. Never see such a turn out of emergency vehicles here as they have to come such a distance.

Helicopter and lifeboat from Lewis arrived - seems someone hit the crash barrier and are in the Loch - not good.

I had my own blues and twos scare last Friday! I knew I had been burning the candle at both ends a bit, getting more wound-up than usual, bad weather didn't help. I got up, feeling fine (as far as I can remember, which isn't much, in hindsight), vaguely made breakfast and took it through, following dear wifey... who thought I had been a very long time following her.. put my stuff down in a hurry, 'cos it hurt, sat down, and couldn't breathe beyond 20% of a breath... crushing pain and dizzy... waited about 15 minutes, before calling 111 for advice, who promptly told us off for not calling 999 straight away, and said they'd dispatched an ambulance. Which arrived pretty promptly, given we are fairly remote...

Lovely pair wired me up to twelve vile sticky pads on hairy bits, looked rather concerned, and carted me off to the hospital. I didn't think they were that worried about it, until I worked out the 30 minute trip (obeying speed limits) had taken just over half that time.

Well, my heart appears to be OK. My blood pressure had shot up, as had heart rate (I'm normally in the medical low for both), but no damage.

I have been ordered to take it easy!!!

    Since then I have:
    • Pruned the buddleias
    • Fed the goats a few times
    • Made a couple of suppers
and that's it! I quite like this easy life, and I'll let dear wifey do all the hard work for a few more days! But, Boreray lamb next week, and a new enclosure for the Bagots needs building.

What's lovely about it is how many neighbours turn up, always at feeding/mucking out time, just "for a look", and to see if there's anything they might happen to do to help.

Anyway, all is fine. I just need to get a bit more sleep, try and do a bit less in a rush.

But, I'm trying to get to bed before 10:30 for the rest of the week.... and not get up early either!

Dafty hope that you are fine soon and do manage to take it easy. Sounds like you have been over doing things a bit lately.

The road is still closed here I think. Goodness knows if anyone was in the car but if there was then I doubt they'll be alive as it's quite a drop down the cliff where the car went off.

Dafty - I know you were keen to avoid spending time with children, but that's a little extreme! Take it easy and focus on non-stressful things. Like cuddling lambs :)

Oh dear, some of you are having the wrong sort of exciting times!

Do take heed of the warning, Dafty. :naughty:

I was 'lucky' enough to have a similar one when I was 40ish and it changed my life. Just being stuck in a hospital bed, tied to a monitor for 3 days and listening to the old guys coughing and raving through the night was enough to make me see sense. No tobacco, almost no alcohol abuse and a less demanding career direction followed....and I'm still here, just about!

News of the crash isn't good, choille. Locals too. :(

Well, the stage goes up tomorrow and the Panto happens next week, though only on 3 nights and not the usual 4. Despite that, many tickets were returned and not re-booked, so there may be something we don't usually experience: empty seats!

With that in mind, we shall be in costume, crashing a coffee morning and waylaying passers-by in the little town on Saturday, tickets in hand......

No other news of note, except that completion should have happened on Horse Woman's place today. The purchaser is from err....shall we say a more affluent and densely populated area south of the metropolis, so there may be an element of culture shock.......;)

Oh, I dunno - it kind of appeals to me on a wet Tuesday morning when I know what classes we have that day (and how they think it's their God given Human Right to try to kick their way in through locked doors because 'it's quicker' to get to their wet weather spot through us than it is walking a whole extra ten foot to the official entrance).

Anyhow, I am now free of the Offspring of the Parish for the next fortnight and, other than teching a gig tomorrow evening (so loading the van, all piling on, travelling for a couple of hours, unloading, setting up, drinking beer throughout the set, breaking down the gear, loading, driving, unloading, travelling home at stupid o'clock), I have nowt to do for two whole weeks.

Well, other than dealing with the plants that are getting a bit overexcited at the two sunny days we've had this month - the rambling roses and the raspberry runners - and starting off some plants that are actually wanted. I'd probably better take a look/chopping tool to the pyracantha as well to direct her attentions towards potential intruders, rather than to my only route to reach the raspberries.

Saw our first Bumbles of the year yesterday afternoon. And the Grape Hyacinths all decided to appear over the course of the day, which usually means we get herds of the little buzzers out the front; only the most intrepid of buzzers go out the back to find the lungwort and primroses in full flower, as it's too cool compared to the giant brick storage heater that is the front of the property.

I seem to have developed a baby wipe tree and sweetie wrapper vine out the front  Considering the wheelie bin and recycling bins are closer to the street than the plants they have been dumped in and the little darlings now queue up nicely to all charge up next door's part of the path and down mine/march along the wall (which is looking more decrepit than ever, so is likely to lose a couple of bricks off it soon), I'm even more likely to be looking seriously for some Blackthorn this year.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

WELL he and his family have been there off and on up till now and all I can say is that he sure as hell is getting his money's worth out of my friend and I before we depart !! it was a mess to say the least...he has 2 dogs and they must have been like "that" ad where the dog comes in and shakes mud every where ! except it didn't come off the walls, doors and kitchen units and floor QUITE like it shows !! it took me 2.5 hours to clean the kitchen ! im lucky if I spend 2.5 minutes in MY kitchen !
we spent a total of 6 hrs there... [2 of us] he left us a LIST !! cheeky wotnot..
so I wacked him with a time and a half bill for today , hes skiing somewhere with his family so I hope he doesn't read the bill txt whilst off piste... pay us first :D

    ok rant over :rotfl::rotfl:

been rain rain ...oh and rain for 2 days now :(
the ditches are full and starting to overflow down our teack. the forest is like a lake ! just no where for it to go
ive shut tilly and Kingston in the corrall with the field shelter as I was worried about Kingston being in constant mud/water with her tender little hooves.. can get what we call bog rot .
corrall has a hard surface but has a river running across it off the field ! at least its going into our newly dug ditches ! thank goodness we had all the ditches re dug before the onslaught of rain this year ..
im amazed our old grandma sheep id still going strong. she walks like spotty dog due to arthritis but also seems as strong as an ox ! defeated 3 winters since we thought it would be her last !!
im spending tomorrow listing on the "bay" , first clear day to do it and with the forecast may be the best time to sell jumpers ;)
well I hope [if you have it too] you all survive this weather..

    take care x

Oh, we've got it all right! Managed to plant a few hazels in the hedge this morning, and that was all that was possible before rain stopped play. :( Plenty more to come as well.....

Glad I've not paid for expensive fishing when the rivers have been so out of sorts! :p

I believe Sunday will not be too bad a day here, until tea time anyway.....:)
