Oh dear Choille, I hope the cars ok. How's things going in the house? How's the new stove, have you cooked on it yet? Be lovely to see a pic.

Very frosty here this morning after a very wet day yesterday. Currently sunny but meant to cloud over mid morning. Hopefully I can do some work in the garden later, when it will have hopefully dried up a little. I ordered some plants yesterday from the Dutch bulbs website, so I hope the quality is good. I've bought a lot of new plants recently but sourced from trade nurseries that open to the public once a week, nurseries or wholesale websites. I still need lots. Making new big borders was certainly not MSE!

The car was okay afterwards, but kinda need to find out what happened as being very remote isn't that handy when you break down.

The stove is doing well, but haven't been cooking in it, just using it to heat the water & rads.

House coming on very slow - as usual, feeling quite jiggered at the mo.
Should post a pic & revise the blog - I suppose.

After being cloudy all day, sun has come out and the evening is quite warm.

Just been potting up my two Dracaena Marginata (dragon trees); was amazed by the size and vigour of the roots, more like a bamboo! Mine are only 40cm high, but I can see how they get a lot bigger.

I realise I've underwatered some of the agaves in the conservatory over winter, and one larger one has numerous dry shriveled leaves. I may bin it, as I have at least 9 'pups' growing on in pots.

Had a major tidy of conservatory and gave everything a good water. Once everything is outdoors, I must get a new floor as the wooden pieces have started to lift. I haven't taken any care with watering as there was a piece missing when I bought the house plus water stains, so it was going to need replacing. I'll likely go for vinyl for ease of cleaning.

Changed the layout of the aquarium as the java fern is now large enough to hide all the 'gubbins' of pump and heater so tank looks more natural now. I'm moving from what you'd call a 'planted' aquarium to a 'jungle'.

I'm working in my conservatory too at present......beginning the demolition process!

So far, I've exhumed about 15 sacks of compost from the two block built planting areas and now I'm breaking up the walls of those. It's a tough job, and a bit sad, becasuse they're better-built than the house! (two render coats both sides, proper stainless ties, plus plastic render beads on all the corners. :o)

Anyway, it all has to go: walls, floor, foundations... everything. We start from zero. :(

I hate waste, but no one will back my alternastive ideas on saving some of it.

    Morning all..

Picked up 2 small sows yesterday. Someone was giving them away.. One of the sows is sooooooo thin and dehydrated poor sole.. Going to the vets this morning to pay for big girls callout and treatment. So will ask to see a farm vet to see apart from the mineral/ vitamin replacement stuff they give to farm animals with scours if there is anything else she can have to give her a body boost ...

Going to worm them both this morning... So will get some lovely naturel yoghurt to put it in...

How can some people not see how bad a condition their animals are in????

Or maybe that's why they just wanted rid...

The small dark iron age looking thing is OK-ish body weight but I might be wrong ( it could be because of worms) she has got that early stage looking pregnant belly???

People hang onto animals even in the face of obvious signs that they're not well. Quite a few horses looking worse for wear at the end of the winter here, and the land they're on, even worse.:(

I thought at first your 'iron age thing' was the mangel shredder, but then I understood! :rotfl:

    hi all.......

well CTC those piggles have the best chance and home with you two !

it rained and blew a hooley last night here... lots of branches down ... I went out at 12.30 this morning to pick up son and friend out on a jolly... ;)

there seems to be a lot of dodgy vehicles spotted around this area and people losing shed stuff... fortunately there are a lot of cameras rigged up on properties and descriptions are being broadcast to us... of course mostly vehicles are not registered but at least its a heads up on what to look for.. we are a "dead end" here so we have a master plan that if anyone is further on than me ,then I will just block the track with my vehicle .... then hide... :rotfl:

the rain has just stopped ! I got up at 6.45 to get sorted and then picked up old lady for 8.30 hospital appointment in Southampton.. traffic nightmare... takes 1hr as opposed to 25 mins normally......

We were supposed to have cloud and occasional rain, but the sun's shining and we just hit 15c. It's too hot in the polytunnel, but I'm not complaining! :D

Electrician has been and says the boiler controls are fine now.....:)

    Have I woken up yet?

    hi all...

weather here today has been glorious...

I turned ruby out into the field yesterday afternoon as she was going nuts in the stable ....worried she would injure herself.
she nearly took me off my feet when she saw the others !! I let her go and she did her "grand national" take off .. of course storm has been the leader for a couple of months and he was MOST put out...herded the others up and stood between them and her.. few kicks, bucks and whinnies later they all walked off together...
just gotta try and catch her again now !!

worked all day today then did a couple of hours on the railway..
could hear all sorts of sirens just before I left and there was a major looking accident just past my house turn off. 2 fire engines,2 ambulances and 2 police cars... could see one car smashed to bits but view blocked so don't know what happened / was involved... just hope everyone was ok..

right, just got in so need to feed animogs and then myself !

Another pretty good day here, which is only to be expected now the heating controls are finally fixed. :p There was a huge thunderstorm to the west and north, but we escaped, just like yesterday. :D

We are dismantling the conservatory, but it's a slow job as the roof panels can only be removed from above and the screws holding them are kernackered. Besides, they're all gunked together with silicone, which is still amazingly strong. :(

    But we're winning. :)

In other news, Horse Woman has not yet been seen in her replacement car, which has been sitting there for well over a week now....
