CTC, are you going to lay a concrete floor and then tile/slab over it?

If you are, consider a good thick layer of Celotex. It will cost, but the difference to comfort and fuel bills will make it worthwhile in the long run. :)

Blistering paint can be an odd problem with the plaster just in one place, choille. Sometimes there are patches where the new paint won't stick and I can never figure out why. Sometimes it needs painting over with a good primer, but mostly I get away with rubbing it down and a couple of extra coats.

Looks major CTC. Bigger job than tiling splashbacks.

Ah but there's 4 big chaps and they're young (well, those I can see :o) so they'll do that lot in 2 days, once it's cleared and dug out. :D

Have to. After all, us two pensioners did the whole big garage here in a day! :rotfl:

Choille we done this last weekend...

Davesnave.. We are going to dig down as far as we can, as its on clay, put a layer of sand, then the damp coarse plastic, then insulation board things.. We are still toying with the idea of under floor heating, but our budget is non- existing now.. Plus other things going on, which I don't really want to go into in detail here, but we need it done asap..well one side of the house anyway ...so it can have the very basics so we can use it..

Oo ye concrete then some sort of flooring prob tiles

Busy few days here and not in a good way, hoping the next few weeks are a bit more relaxed. That and the shocking weather means I have not really had a chance to get out in the garden.

Choille the buddleia you sent me have really shot up this year. The last couple years they were in pots and didn't really take to them so I planted them in a sunny corner and clearly they are very happy :)

I wouldn't worry about the underfloor heating so much as the u/f insulation. We would have liked it here, all over, not just in one room, but it wasn't an option.

Just watched the biggest Pine marten I've ever seen saunter past. I've been having the fat ball feeders raided & now I know who dunnit.

Been out in the house cleaning the tiles & just comingout when I saw the big blighter - they are gorgeous, but deadly - well for poultry they are.

Back from my trip to London and then the trip with my girls to Crieff. Had a fab time doing water sports on Loch Earn, not so fab time dangling from a rope in the tree tops at Active Glen and a truly wonderful time scoffing afternoon tea at Crieff Hydro. Sadly all over now. The girls were wonderful, all mucking to help with the cooking whilst we were at the youth hostel. The envelope system worked for paying for all our activities so there were no nasty shocks.

Paid a visit to Drummond Gardens they were spectacular. They also had a film crew in setting up for the next series of Outlander. I have the first series to watch on DVD when we go to Skye. The weather behaved whilst we were away so hope I can arrange it for when we are in Skye!

Need to go and restock the cupboards as the locusts have been in. No contact from DS2 so presume he's having a good time in Madagascar. Can't believe he's been away for 2 weeks on Monday! The 2 oldest are off to Ladies Day at the racecourse today along with some friends. Think there will be loads staying over tonight, must remember to shove the hoover round. OH was making noises about the garden last night, one can live in hope.

CTC-regarding the floor and I'm not sure how much it would cost but could you use polished concrete? Looks good and easy to keep clean.

    Morning all,

The sun is shining!!!!!!! In the middle if the week they said it was going to be raining, but changed their minds last night , lol....

So going to have a look at a farmers market this morning... Its about 30 -40 mins away, its one of the biggest, and most attended, even though it's a farmers market, there is also other stalks there, which I think makes it such a crowd puller....

Always worth a look for ideas lol

Lucielle that sounds like a packed with activities holiday. Great stuff. Crieff is nice. Never been to the Hydro - very posh.

Hope Skye is as good & the Summer is holding back for your arrival.

Dry here again, so it is improving.
Must shake a leg & do something.

    MORNING ALL...........:D

well you all sound uber busy !

ive been sat here looking at paint patches painted on my lounge wall to see which I like.. thing is what I like means changing EVERYTHING ELSE !! so im gonna go with what fits with what I have, just a few changes..;)
I was sat in bed last night thinking re the arched shelving either side of fireplace... reached out to turn off side lamp and had a brainwave.. remove the shelves and put a lamp either side :)
of course this means rehoming the carp I have there at the moment :o
then I have a big walk in cupboard to sort out

the sun is shining today and like dave ,the plants look so much happier.. my lawn even has a hint of green... or its my hopefull imagination...:rotfl:

CTC... underfloor heating IMO is not suitable for a space that has constant door opening etc. friend has it and she doesn't bother putting it on now as it takes a while to work and cost a fortune... my ex neighbour has a 3-400 yr old cottage, he put it in his kitchen and again he doesn't use it.. good insulation will do a better job maybe...
