You have a good memory Alfie.....yeah, we have in excess of a hundred, but are planning a cull of the smaller ones as there are just tooooo many! Trouble is I can't resist a plant, then realise there's no obvious place for it in the ground, so another pot/planter has to be acquired
Some pots we've had for twenty years - nothing wrong with that as generally speaking our taste hasn't changed and we prefer the aged look - but these tended to be smaller as we had greater priorities back then than forking out (excuse the pun :rotfl:) on the larger ones, hence we have loads that are only big enough for the smallest of plantings (think 12 - 15" diameter), whereas the ones we've purchased more recently (ie in Wilts) are up to 1m in diameter and can comfortably house a small tree
For a real *pot addict* (no, not that kind), you want Dafty Duck, who has, if my memory serves me correctly, in excess of two thousand!!!
I have lots of pots too Phoebe (though not as many as you), and do find that the watering is a big task!
Would you mind telling me whereabouts in Wiltshire you recently bought your big pots? I need one for a dwarf quince tree which will need a bigger pot this winter, and despite looking in every garden centre that we pass, I have not seen one bigger than the one it is in, except for cheap plastic onesIt is a beautiful tree, and I think it deserves something a bit nicer than that! Thanks in anticipation

im my own worse enemy as I should know by now what triggers it ....

farrier tomorrow ! so that will either kill or cure my back..:rotfl:

I think in a case like yours, the assessor will look at you as well as the car, but I'm sure he'll soon come to a good conclusion! :A:A:cool::rotfl:0 -
Giant Hogweed: Public Warned About Invasive Toxic Plant That Can Cause Severe Burns
The plant's sap makes skin sensitive to ultraviolet light, causing burns. Recently, a dog-walker was hospitalized after brushing the plant, and a 10-year-old girl needed skin grafts after grabbing it.0 -

Dawn, it was the place I recently mentioned to LIR - Plantworld, which is actually just across the border into Dorset on the outskirts of Gillingham......Milton on Stour iirc......
I'd put up a pic, but am still unable to embed a single one, but if you can find the post where I put a linky to my photobucket album there should be pics of the pots on there......wish it was as easy to do here as another forum I frequentMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Giant Hogweed: Public Warned About Invasive Toxic Plant That Can Cause Severe Burns
My folks had that in their rented cottage garden near Castle Cary in 1974. Lots of local kids were burned by it, especially the ones who thought bashing its impressive stems down was a great wheeze. It's magnificent in stature
I seem to remember cutting ours down quite carefully with no ill effects, unlike the rue that got me after I pruned it some years later. That was consigned to the bonfire.:mad:0 -
dawn...... a friend of mine has a huge pot for an olive tree and until recently I was convinced it was a huge clay pot... it isn't !!
it is made of something that sooooo looks real. shall I ask where she got it ? I will get a pic for you .
Yes please Alfie
And thanks Phoebe, I will investigate Plantworld - it is some distance away, but sounds like my kind of trip out
I have plenty of time to look, as I can't do anything with it till it is dormant (it is obviously in full leaf at the moment, and has quinces growing too, 9 this year - that will be plenty of quince jelly for us)

Phoebe - have you tried copying the 'direct link' on photobucket - I copy that then click on the picture icon when posting and paste into the little box. Bit of a faff but it seems to work.
Sun's shining :j:j:j:jIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
