Busy on here yesterday
Very sorry to hear of your stalking troubles phoebe. I hope it is all sorted out now. Must have been horrible. I was once under surveillance by an insurance company (they did pay up in the end) but that was horrible enough. I'm not on facebook either. In theory its a good idea, but people post the minutiae of their lives with little thought as to how that information could be used to their detriment. Plus if you ever go over to the relationships board, the way some people use facebook never ceases to amaze me.
You had a good day yesterday alfie. Nothing like flowers to brighten up a house.
You sound quite low choille, I do hope the pace of the work picks up and you can start to see an end to it all.
carolbee we will be holidaying in the Kent area, we stay at the Gun Emplacement at St Margaret's Bay. Its a magical place with the most amazing views across the channel. Old Dog loved it there.

Has DW forgiven you yet Dave? I hate sorting out car insurance. I use a broker for the house insurance and they are pretty good, but they weren't able to match the car or pet insurance quotes I'd found for myself.
I'm OK thanks CTC. Still missing Old Dog dreadfully, I visualise her head resting on my shoulder to keep me company when I feel sad.
We dabbled with fish briefly IHS, but it wasn't a success, it's harder than you think, trouble is it is difficult not to stress them when you move them to a new tank. Hope yours settle down now.
Tiddling down with rain here. Well, at least the plants will be happy. Anyone watched The Fall? Been through the first season and now started on the second season (DVD set borrowed from the library). It's pretty good, and creepy in places. For those who like The Walking Dead, I understand the spin off series starts next month. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I love the idea of pet birds, but not the cages, and then the mess. If it were not moral objection on that front love birds are beautiful, and don't present the same ethical issues of longevity as their larger cousins. I house sat for some one with an only parrot once and the poor thing adored me and when I was doing stuff out side the other person living there ( yep, they had a house sitter but didn't vacate!) said the bird was going crazy calling for me when it could see me from the window. I felt very sad about a lot at that place but the bird was high on my list. It spent a lot of time loose while I was there and it got extraordinarily jealous when fir came to visit.0

Come on, you know the cure for dog deprivation........another dog!
Mind you, I appreciate it has to be the right one, which can take some time.0 -

Just reading back to catch up - Phoebe sorry to hear of you stalking incident. I don't do the facebook thing coz I don't know how, but it's not really me. I did a blog which is still out there & then felt I shouldn't.
It seems to be a massive thing where folks spend a lot of time on. I am a bit of a luddite really.
Well we've sold the old car & they come to collect tonight & pay us the rest of the money - brilliant. My ads in the local rag have been 100% successful this past couple of weeks - not that I've listed that much.
The cash get's eaten at the mo tho...still it's only to buy the once such as tiles & a UV unit for the water & radiators &....endless list.0 -
oh I sooooo want some of those ! [giant napweed]
they are stunning !
OMG, Alfie, thanks for posting that picWe have a large clump of those in our garden (planted by the PO who was a keen gardener till he abandoned the place to nature after buying his mansion with twenty-odd acres in order to house his forty one cars
) and we'd been wondering what they were as so far we just have a mass of the weird brown buds......thanks so much for identifying it for me

I've been sorting all the bills, receipts & stuff for the build today and the amount of them is scary.
But we have to spend now, whether we like it or not, just to return the place to normality. Hopefully it won't be too long......
Christmas? This time next year? Who knows?
Just had a text from DW about the brushcutter: "Got it! Bl**dy good value!":D
There speaks a woman who needs her hen orchard cut! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks all.....the FB incident is over now and we won't be going back
BD, so lovely to see you back here - of course it's going to take time and I agree it's so very hard to come to terms with the loss of a truly beloved pet, but you have your wonderful memories which can never be taken away. You deserve to have a wonderful holiday and St Margaret's Bay sounds like a lovely place to spend it :A
We had a hectic weekend, in the garden and out of it. After a whistle-stop tour of the Newport Agricultural show in Shropshire - where it was wonderful to see the youngsters and farmers of the future showing livestock in the ring - we finally we got our huge galvanised trough planted up with the espalier Apple trees we purchased a while back. To add interest at the front we planted Lavender Hidcote, Vinca Minor Atropurpurea and lots of Ivy....positioned right by the entrance, where our wheelie bins were previously housed by the PO, it looks fab....a much nicer way to greet visitors than stinky bins
On Saturday evening we collected a mahoosive fireplace for the snug (eBay purchase) and had a scary journey driving home with it strapped to the Landy's roof. Once home it was a quick change act then over to a party at our neighbours in *the big house* which was lovely as we got to meet lots of our other neighbours socially.
Yesterday we went to an open garden at the former Mr Poundland's Jacobean house near Bridgnorth.....gorgeous house, beautiful gardens, but with some rather odd additions by way of statuary that might have come from his stores :rotfl:
Another day in the garden was planned for today - but what with fifty-odd parcels to pack and the fact it's drizzling, our plans have changed and it's more eBay listing - we've had a good weekend, sales-wise and are currently getting more calls than ever before from people with collections to sell.....although as I speak the sun is trying to break through
Have a good day all......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

did the PO win the lottery ? he obviously didn't have 41 cars at your house ! quite a leap of difference to 20 acres... :rotfl:0
