Sorry CTC forgot to reply, no the planning issues are not over yet, it is indeed stressful. The ball is in my court but I'm not sure I can face dealing with it.
last time it reared it's ugly head I was so stressed the doc recommended anti-anxiety/ anti- depressants. I said no, and I've been fine since but by the same token I've completely ignored what needs to be done.
I really need to gather myself and get in front of it, if I had a letter from them now it would send me loopy.
I have spoken to a really good planning consultant recently who explained my options. But haven't got into the detail of what to do and how much it's all going to cost.
I will though, soon!0 -
The bedroom is all plaster boarded & the hall is getting there.
We're worried about getting our plasterers back once the rest of the plasterboard's up. They're building a house on the far edge of town and it's going well, but they may be keen to press-on and catch the best selling time. :undecided0 -
Morning all, supposed to have been collecting the pots this morning, but she wants to go after 3pm, which is too late for us, so waiting to arrange another time. So might go to pig aucyption today to have a mooch, with an empty trailer of coarse lol...
Fk... I think re- mortgage you got to be careful letting g it out without them knowing. I think... So be careful..
I don't know what the planning issue is, but it sounds like a big one???.. I think at some point you are going to have to face it head on so to speak...if there is anything I can help with you know I am just own the road. Are you doing anything this morning??? Why don't you come down to the auction and we can have a catch up?? You know they got a lovely cafe there lol...it will be nice to see you again..
Re- this house we cancelled the EA viewing... As tbh we are still in limbo land with it. Plus we have cut back staff in work, so its only hubby, me, eldest and someone who has been with Mr right from the very beginning...off an on.. So with work over load, and the ranch it is VERY hard going, it does make logical sense for us to sell up here, BUT, there is still part of me saying sell noe, and another part of me saying hold on for as long as you can, as you said as some sort of back up plan to when we are older ( in a year or two lol)..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thanks CTC :A I know I need to just get on and sort it out, but I know it's got the potential to upset me and that would affect my mind set in everything else I need to do, so I've left it go. It'll probably turn out to be less of a drama than I'm expecting, like most things you build up in your mind. But if I have to fight I don't know if I've got it in me...I need a few big things here out the way, so I can give it all my attention; I should get the ball rolling sooner though.
Sorry I won't be able to make the auction, I've got a lot on today, because everything will close over the weekend and Im close to running out I'm stocking up on food and hay, both time consuming.
I forgot it was the auction, I haven't been for ages, so did I miss ffairfach last weekend?not that I need any more carp :rotfl:
Mortgage on the other house is actually a business one, it was always intended to be let out so no issues there. Got it from the bank I used to work for, blagged it a bit if I'm honest but glad it worked
I've got chicks hatching :j had a few before but a flurry of them pipped yesterday, hatched out late last night...some eggs were under a broody hen, some went in the incubator, but as those hatch I pop them under the hen. Luckily she's a big bird, can't wait to see her face when the ducks under her hatch!0 -

Thought of you recently when I saw this house was up for sale. It's just been re-furbed, along with the one at the opposite end of the four, probably by a developer, who's been sitting on them for quite a while.

I don't know the whole back-story, but it was a very similar situation to yours, with T*sco building a new store and car park directly behind. Two properties fell empty, as the owners probably sold-up, and two stayed lived-in. This one had 'visitor's parking,' so I don't know what went on there, but it may not have been a private house.
You can see what both empty houses looked like, until recently, on the Street View.0 -
Quiet today! Are folks seeing some good weather or something?
It's blimmin' cold here, especially as the plumber has the front door open to drain the Aga down. He's in shorts....perhaps he has dreams of being a postman. Anyway it's 15.4C in the office right now....:(:(
Oh.... Aga's drained and door is shut. That's good, but he's beaten me.:( I'm emptying the oil tank. So far, I've taken 40 litres out by tipping it up....Now if I'd known there was that much, I'd have tipped it and run the Aga for longer!
The cats were one year old yesterday. Lila didn't have much of a birthday though, because she was attacked by the Bengal, which bit her fantabulous tail.:( At Christmas, the Bengal's owner, a guy I call Mr Playboy, whined that he'd just had to fork out £70, because his poor, innocent and friendly !!!!! cat had been beaten-up. Well, thanks to said 'innocent' moggie, I now know how that feels!
Just had a moment of drama.Plumber was removing a radiator, having turned off the valves, when one of the feed pipes fell out of its socket at below floor level, causing a nice fountain of filthy water to erupt all over the only live socket at that end of the house! :eek:I've been crouching there with my finger in the pipe for the past 10 minutes! :rotfl:
Thank goodness that pipe was out of the way while DD2 used that room. It was only luck that was holding the fitting together. Oh, how we need this new system.
The censored word was P-U-S-S-Y ....I'll say it again..

Hi all,
Finally, as promised a link to a photobucket account with pics of our new garden in chronological order from late last Summer when we first viewed the house to now when it is gradually being encompassed by our beast of a Wisteria
Note the giant snail - fortunately a rarity in these 'ere parts - and the photo-bombing dogs, just too cute to omit
Hope you like them......x

Edited to add - You can also get a glimpse of one of our *arches*, of which we have four - three like the one shown and one double sized which I intend to turn into a grotto!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Wonderful photo's phoebe, thanks for posting. What a lovely garden and house. And I have serious 'snail envy'
And sheep too! Plus a rather muddy dog
The wisteria is very impressive, do you have any idea how old it is and does it support its own weight OK without breaking?
You've got a lot in flower, must be great spending time in the garden. Are you going to keep all the conifers, they can take over rather? Now I can visualise the space it will be easier to keep up with your plans, you must be very excited.
Cold here too Dave but at least we can close the door. Obviously not a good day for pets. Hope Lila is OK, cat bites can result in nasty abscesses. Old dog has been sick today after a good day yesterday. Daft as a brush lurcher is currently on his way to the vets with Mr BD. I noticed blood on the floor yesterday evening. It looks like daft as a brush has broken the bone which holds his dew claw. Ouch. I think Mr BD may as well ask the PO to pay the vets directly the amount we have spent there recently
Thanks for your suggestions re the non laying chickens. They are ex bats and shouldn't now be any older than 2 1/2. So if our previous ex bats are anything to go by they should still be laying, even if intermittently. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Why thank you BD
We think the wisteria was most likely planted when that end of the house was extended in 1924. That's when the two-storey bits were added - middle and right as you look at pics - as well as the verandah. The original three-storey *cottage* was built around 1853 at which point the garden was much larger and the house was approached via a drive on the garden-front side.
It is more or less self-supporting - although I don't know if you can see the collapsing timber balcony railings? These, whilst obviously of an inferior build quality, have been distorted by the entwined branches of *the beast* and are now in part holding bits of it up. We need to remove these timbers and rebuild in order to make sitting on the balcony safe, but DH is convinced that those branches growing around them will sag once these are removed
Regarding the conifers - the more interesting specimen types we will definitely keep. They form our own little woodland areaThe Leylandii - possibly not, although they do give privacy and don't really cast too much shadow as the garden is large enough for this not to be a problem. Also, we are in a Conservation Area and have an Article 4(2) direction (plus the house is of *townscape merit*) so, whilst the trees are not speifically covered by preservation orders, we do need permission to remove or lop anything with a trunk over 15cm (iirc!)......
It's all very exciting though - enough of a challenge to create something potentially special, without being too daunting. We've done the latter before and, whilst it was fun to start with a completely blank canvas, I kind of prefer having bones to add flesh to, so to speak
So sorry to hear Old Dog is having a bad day today, bless her....and that your *daft as a brush* lurcher is in the wars too. Vet fees are soooo expensive - and despite having insurance we always feel reluctant to put a claim in.......hope they both have a good night and a *better day* tomorrow
Dave, sorry to hear about Lila too - blooming Bengal, grrrrrr! Love your large red P U S S Y btw:D:D

Well I can certainly see why you bought the house phoebe. I love the style of the french windows, (1920's?) are they metal framed? Just got Mr BD to look through the photos and he now has 'snail envy' too :cool:
It will be so exciting getting it as you want, do you have an overall plan or are you going to let it evolve? Sitting on that terrace overlooking the garden in the 'arms of the wisteria' must be magical.
Thanks for your kind words about the dogs. Old dog is upset and cant understand why I wont feed her now she is hungry (after being sick a few hours ago). Daft as a brush had a traumatic time at the vets. Mr BD held him down while the vet pulled off the claw, which apparently wasn't held on by much - gulp :eek:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
