  • I'm absolutely dying for payday on Saturday when I can add to my savings. Hopefully I'll be able to get it up to £300 which isn't as much as I'd hoped for but I've had to get more than expected for my daughter's school trip. That is going to take £150 or so which otherwise would have gone into savings but needs must and she'll have a great time. If I can reach £500 by the end of April (and the car MOT and service doesn't eat it all) then I'll be thrilled. I'm also planning on starting a summer holiday childcare pot and summer entertainment pot too this month with hopefully £20 in each to start off with. Summer will be here before we know it!

Had to buy new flooring today after an incident, so EF id back down to £69.99 from £189.99...... Was nice to have the cash there to pay for it though rather than credit cards! :)

Morning all, #94 reporting in :j

Considering I only started this challenge at the end of last week I have already managed to squirrel away £53.00. This was mostly thanks to my MIL who changed her Mothers Day plans on Sunday and the day ended up being far cheaper than originally planned for :T. I also cleaned up the bank accounts of any spare pounds and pennies.

Roll on payday next week, I'm hoping to increase the EF by £100 if not more :)

    Have a great day.

  • Rising , so sorry to hear you have had an unexpected bill, it's so tough when your budgets are tight isn't it.
Thanks .... it's actually the main reason for my debts in the first place so is always a constant worry

Being single and the costs of paying a mortgage / other household costs on one wage - and not a great one as being in a rural area there are few jobs & the salaries aren't great - really is a constant juggle

Hoping I might not have to pay it for another couple of months which would mean I've £100 that's easily accessible from the EF (£300 is in an ISA which it's not that easy to get at - which is really why I put it there so I can't get at it! :o)

I've not been able to add to my Emergency Fund this week as I am getting ready to clear my last debt off next week. So my balance remains the same even though I have a few hundred more sitting in the account at this time. :)
[Not exactly the Dave Ramsey way but hey! it is working for me] ;)

  • I'm hoping that I don't have to raid my emergency savings already. My service and MOT is due at the end of April which I'm budgeting for but now my airbag light has come on. I'm having it looked at on Friday and I'm praying it is just something simple like a fuse rather than the whole airbag system needing replacing. If that is the case then I'm really up the creek..... Eek!!

  • I totally agree, so very confused:T

It's a lovely supportive thread and I always enjoy visiting it (although it makes me sad to read how many us are battling to pay for the rubbish hands that we are sometimes dealt by life).
But nobody stays downbeat for long and it's so inspiring to be part of. Thanks all:beer:

Totally - I really enjoy it too

I was ridiculously excited at the weekend as I knew Monday was going to be a big(ger than normal) transfer to the pets EF :o

£10 goes over every Mon & also £20 on the 16th (the difference between her old insurance and the new one) - as the 16th was also a Mon this month, it was a bumper transfer day!
