Start my emergency fund to £50 please.
I'm putting most of my saving money into our wedding but slowly and gradually building this up.

Have transferred a little more across so up to £855.00 was hoping for more but snow days halted that a little.

    Hello everyone!

It has been a while but I am back!

After much shuffling and overtime and a refund of some money I have been owed I have restarted my emergency fund and it is at £546.06.

That's not bad in one month, although it's unlikely that I will ever have so much money to add to it again in one month (unless I win the lottery! :D)

I'm likely to have to cash it in a few month against a CC then rebild it again, but for now it's great.

Hope you are all keeping well! :)
Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20
    Starter Emergency Fund (#187): £1000/£1000
    3 month Emergency Fund (#45): £3300/£3300
  • I hope everyone is getting back to normal life after the snow and that it isn't incurring any unexpected expense for repairs now it's thawed.

I've my brother's funeral next week which will involve lengthy train travel and taxis at both ends, an overnight stay, flowers, an essential haircut and a new (probably charity shop if I can find a suitable one) coat. That's going to set my EF back a lot but needs must.

That is what EF's are for. I am trying to get mine up to a good level...but as you can see, it is a slow process. I am intending to always leave a minimum amount in there for if the worst happens...my parents are both mid 80's and live 150 miles away. We know they can't last forever and my mum has a condition already and is in a care home, she has already had 3 major operations and we never know what is round the corner. I want to know that at any given time, I can put fuel in the car and get a hotel if needed...(normally stay with sister, but you never know when and what might happen)
Take care and hope the day goes as well as these things can. x
