  • I'm hoping that it could be a blocked pipe relating to the self-defrosting as (when I've pulled it out) the collection box is bone dry.

I got a thermometer at lunchtime and it's cold - just not as cold as it should be.

Going to turn it off, give it a defrost (can't see any build up but can't do much harm!) and a good clean and ... keep my fingers crossed!!

  • Just popping in to say hello as I've been very busy this past few weeks and haven't had time to check in. Am doing a couple of weeks of casual work. Plenty of graft required for not much money but every little helps when my finances are so dire:o.

At least I'll have something to add to my EF when I'm finally paid, although if past experiences with this company are anything to go by it will be several weeks coming:(.

Commiserations to all who have had to dip into their EF since I was here last. rising from the ashes, it could well be a blocked pipe. Mum's fridge-freezer was a nightmare for blocking up, although it wasn't anywhere near as recent a model as yours is. Good Luck!

Been a busy week this week. Car is now booked in for it's service next Saturday. This will cost around the £220 mark as it is a full service. Thus, nothing transferred to the ef this week.

*sigh* does anyone else notice a common theme .... just when we begin to start making some headway *something* breaks down / needs attention etc

Good news re the casual work - pants to them taking so long to pay though, it might depend on how their payroll works? Ours goes up to the last Sunday in the month for payment the last working day the next month so, if you worked say Mon 29 & Tues 30 June, you wouldn't get paid this until end August

And..... and big thank you for all the positive ideas / vibes - fingers crossed, the freezer seems to be running fine :T It's down to -26 this morning (so have actually turned it down a bit now lol!)

When it defrosted, there was water in the wee tray so I'm thinking maybe something was stuck that jiggled free when I moved it?

I've also left it pulled out of it's 'hole' a bit - it gets very warm in the kitchen and I'm wondering if there's not been enough air flow getting around it for it to work properly ....

Anyway, early days but .... keep those fingers crossed!

Good news on the fridge freezer. Glad it was an easy self-fix.

I have budgetted for the car service as I intend to get as many years out of it as I can.
It is a 2008 berlingo 1.6 HDi which had just 24k miles (and a full service history to back that up) when I purchased it back in 2013. It now has 44k miles and is due it's 10k service. Servicing is essential for this particular engine (which is also used by Ford in their Focus, C-Max & B-Max and in the BMW Mini diesel and a few Volvos as well). If you don't service it, it can lead to catastrophic turbo failure.

Bearing in mind the car cost me £6k, I really need to look after it as the depreciation on Citreons is horendous considering how reliable they are (when looked after properly).

A small update from me. It's going in the right direction.:)

    #105 - £131.16/1000 (13.11%)

I have just changed my car Patman from a citroen xsara picasso and it had 141000 miles on the clock.....and the poor thing was neglected.

I now have a 2009 Peugeot 308 I with only 25000 miles on it. I'm hoping with looking after, servicing, etc it should last for many miles and many years yet. I even have a car savings pot set up for servicing.

My mate bought a neglected Picasso 1.6 diesel on an '05 plate. The poor thing could hardly make it up the hill near his home. After over 2 years of avoiding supermarket diesel and a few motorway trips, it now drives like a new car.

  • everyone. Just popping in to read what I've missed. I feel like my real life has been 'on hold' whilst I've been doing the temporary job. Although I'll get paid for the work in about 3 weeks I haven't had a minute to make money in any other way for a while:(. Now the job has finished it's time to get into gear to do a couple of car boot sales over the weekend.

Like everyone else I find the car is the biggest money-guzzler going:mad:. My car tax is due at the end of the month and my car insurance within the next few days. Then it's MOT time in early July but it's going really well at the moment and will hopefully pass:j. So, all in all, a lot of expense to come and the money I'll get for the job will have to be used for that lot. And some!

Received a cheque today from Populus for surveys. Took several months to make enough to redeem but it's for £50 so that can go straight into the EF as soon as the cheque clears.

    Good Luck everyone:beer:
