Is anyone else getting thoroughly sick of every damn tablet and phone coming with Android on it? I don't get this insistence on ramming substandard operating systems down our throats other than for the manufacturer to further their own agenda.
I wish manufacturers would stop taking the cheap and easy approach to making tablet and smartphone operating systems and I wish people would stop lapping up the substandard results we get from that!0 -

So what you want is every manufacturer to write their own O/S...and for the software developers to write versions of their apps for every O/S ?
I don't think you understand the relationship between software and hardware.
If there was no android (or ios ) there wouldn't be a million apps to choose from in the appropriate app stores.
You should actually be grateful that android ( and ios ) are so popular0 -

However when I try to watch itvplayer the same way, it won't let me, keeps displaying the app and prompting me to use that instead.
This is because you need Adobe Flash to view ITV player on the web. Adobe only make Flash for desktop OSs now. iPlayer on the web is HTML 5 I think, which is more universal. Don't blame Tesco/Android!0
