We have a video monitor from Aldi made by Impidimpi. It was £50. Although a little crackely, we found out that it can pick up interferance from the wi-fi in the house, but its great for keeping an eye on them and seeing if they get up.

  • Another vote for the BT Digital one. We love it and as Julief1973 says, you can alter the temperature settings to whatever you need.
  • I've been using the video one from Tinytots cam - its really good actually and has night vision which is a definate plus - looks a bit like a really big ipod too which is kind of cool. I got the long range one as live in a house with quite thick walls and it helps makes the signal clear.

    Hope that helps

Triple points too (and an extra 1000 if you spend over £50- the monitor is £49.99 though!!)

Ooh, I had my eye on that one. But hubby is adamant he wants the movement sensor one 'because you'd never forgive yourself' he says.
Hmmm, I forsee arguments over that one...

We had one of these & I swear by them. Luckily our DD was fine. As she grew older we adjusted the sensitivity & the alarm would only go off if we took her out of the cot without turning it off.

As your hubby says "you'd never forgive yourself"

We have a different BT one:

We have this one and it's great - you can hear everything and you can turn off the irritating 'too hot' beep which was good when we were in Italy cos it was too hot all teh time!

It is very good and stylish as well, and if you hold it to your ear you can even hear the breathing which is great for when you are worried but don;t want to actually go in.

We didn;t feel a motion sensor was necessary but we only use the monitor for between putting her down and going to bed ourselves (about 2 hours or so) as we cosleep.

We went for this one after OH researched monitors - it had good reviews and i think is also recommended by Which? as well as having won various magazine awards.

I tend to agree. We were given ours and used it for a while, but then you reaslise that if baby needs anything she will let you know in no uncertain terms. There is no point keep running upstairs for every little whimper. Makes you wonder how people coped before they were invented. Probably used their ears.

That's only the case if you want your baby to cry to get your attention.

My baby never cries over the monitor - I listen for the rustling of the sheets as she moves around and then for the ahem-type cough that babies make to get your attention, and then I go up.

I certainly wouldn;t hear that without a monitor, and the advantage of being able to get to her before she cries means I can just feed her and then she will go back to sleep.

If I let her get so upset that she cried to get me up there, I'd have a job getting her back off.

So I'd say a monitor is necessary.
