Xperia Z3 Compact which just came out in Sep, perhaps that's avail as well. I use the GSM arena website to compare specs.

It depends what your friend wants to do with the phone though... there's no such thing as 'the best' :)

Hi Clara - thanks for the reply. Just general usage really. I don't think they will have the z3...... It's a fairly cheap monthly package hence the not so great / new phones.....

    What is she using currently?
    Lumias are WidowsPhones
    Others are Androids

Also, it's worth comparing the entire 'deal' to what she can get in other places as a new customer or upgrade via CPW/e2save/osps/mobiles.co.uk

Currently Android. But switching to windows isn't a total no no. Yes I've tried to convince her to jump ship but she gets discount on her home broadband, so wants to stay with orange.

From that list, the Z1 Compact would be miles ahead of anything if I was looking for myself.

Yeah I'd pick the Z1C from that list too, unless he likes taking photos, then go for the Lumia 1020.

Upgrading via a 3rd party is still an option.

    Fixed that for you ;).

Thanks for everyone's help. I have recommended the Z1

@grumbler: Nokia Lumia 930 doesn't have a memory card slot, that's a major minus in my eyes. It's also bigger and heavier than the Z1. Not to mention Windows :)
