Be warned.
We received an email on 10th October to confirm debt will be written off and not to make further payment. Got email on 22nd reminding payment will be taken as per plan so contacted Wonga who said this was an error and they were instructed to remove CPA for the account as no further payment was required. They confirmed no payment will be taken. Today was the date of repayment plan and yes they have once again breached trust and taken payment without authorisation, contacted them and sure they will refund payment but there may be extended delay as so many payments to refund but I explained this was a complete unauthorised payment and should never have happened especially after my call but I have to wait. Was great to get a write off but this does not reassure me all will go to plan as detailed in email on 10th October. Are some accounts already appearing as zero balance now even those that had payment plans direct with Wonga?0 -

I don't think anyone's account says £0 yet. I am waiting for my refund from the 10th October. Called them and was told the refund had been authorised but not yet processed due to back log. Lady said that it will all be sorted by the end of the month.0 -

That's great if you have got your refund. Fingers crossed mine goes in on Monday. Did you call them to request a refund?0 -
I've been off sick this year due to a Neurological disorder and it's been hell as I got moved onto SSP and my insurance that I ever so sensibly took out haven't heard of my condition still hasn't paid out after 7 months.
I went against the grain and got a Wonga loan, to help me get to and from hospital appointments as I can't walk anymore and pay bills and whatever until my insurance finally kicked in, and for all the ones I paid back they are done and dusted and do not expect any recompense for it. As I have read from other peoples responses, I knew what I was getting into and I knew how much it cost and I paid back on time, as my insurance problem progressed I took the loan again and then quickly realised I'd added an extra monthly outgoing of £250, again my fault.
So I get an email from Wonga saying that I shouldn't have had the loan and all that and I no longer have to pay interest on my current loan and can also pay it over 4 months at... £250. So my initial thought is 'brilliant' that's what I'm paying them anyhow and it will be over in 4 months. Or so I thought.
Now I know my credit report will have a few blips from having these loans in the first place, but I hoped as I paid them on time and in full once I got back to a better place again they won't matter so much, and I have no intention of taking any other loan out for a few years. I was also under the impression using this arrangement would not impact on my credit report. I was wrong, it does.
Now I'm not upset that it would affect my report, and I'm not upset that people are getting their loans written off with defaults being removed. I'm upset at the combination of the two. I'm paying my loan off in terms of the contract, and in terms of the offer they have given me. They have always had their money back on time and in full. However other people, who have had the same affordability checks and didn't pay are having the loans written off and credit reports like it didn't happen.
I'm happy to pay (I'd rather pay to be honest), and I'm delighted about the interest, but to have my credit report show an arrangement when I've paid my debt and other people have a clean report that have not paid is very unfair.
I accept my responsibility for taking out the loan, I do not accept Wonga changing the rules of the game and leaving people on the sidelines.0 -
I was unaware of any of these changes regarding wonga, but i just received a payment of £231 from them (using their company name WDFC UK)
After a bit of searching I'm seeing this was the interest i paid on a loan of £1000 taken in september, repaid beginning of this month.
Nice surprise, but i currently have another loan with them for the same amount with around £230 in interest incurred so far..
What happens now? i read a few articles and it says wonga have a new system in place but looks all the same to me... they lent to me again.. do they write of the interest again (heres hoping)

I have now received the write off email!!! I defaulted on a £1000 loan back in March and never received a write off ema on the 10th like everyone else. I've just checked my emails And on Wednesday I got the email. If you believe you were one of the ones who should have been included, check your email as it looks like they're still sending them now!0

current balance £0.00

Have you received the money back into your bank account? I was wondering if they would use their faster payment service like when they deposit loans or just a normal credit.0 -
Hi there
I too have been affected by the Wonga write off. To cut a long story short I got into trouble with the loan and entered a debt management plan in July 2013 owing Wonga in excess of £1500.
When the details of the write off were made public on 2/10 I spoke to the guys who manage my plan. They told me to keep my fingers crossed and if anything were to occur to get back to them asap and they would also see about the possibility of claiming the money i had paid back.
I had the email on 10/10 from Wonga saying they would be wiping my loan from their records. I got back to the DMC, forwarded the email as proof and asked about the next step. They told me they would remove Wonga as a creditor from my plan which they have done but when I asked about claiming any money back they said they wouldn't be able to help and to speak to the CAB about it.
What I would like to know is am I entitled to make a claim for any money i have paid and if so how i would go about it. Don't get me wrong I am chuffed to bits about having the loan wiped and if I'm not entitled to make a claim so be it but if I would have failed the affordability checks when i originally took out the loan then maybe I would be entitled to claim something back?
I'm just wondering as I've followed this matter on here since the story broke but I don't understand who would be entitled to any kind of refund. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.0
