I agree, just think the fact he needed one in the first place means all customers should have had the same offer of the 4 month repayment plan.
How many people have paid back in full as they are intending to use them again only now to find computer says no?

And if Wonga had gone into liquidation what would these people do?

In effect, this has placed people in the position before they took out the Wonga loan, just now this avenue is closed to them with proper affordability checks.

I would suggest people in this position head to the Debt Free Wannabe forum and post their SoA so people there can make useful suggestions.
  • I can log in fine. Still not managed to ring them though.

Wonga appear to be damned if they do and damned if they don't.

My brother was not in arrears but was relying on them month to month, he re-paid £250 on monday 6th and was turned down for a loan on fri 10th after receiving the affordability email.
He will get his charges and interest back approx £40 but i think its bad that he paid them in good faith on monday having no idea he could not get another and was not offered the 4 month repayment plan.
If his repayment date had been just a week later he could have made an arrangement, now he is just in a mess.
To bring balance, he was in a mess anyway.
He was in a mess which was getting larger and larger at each time he borrowed.
His family have sat back happy to let him continue digging an ever deeper hole.

Wonga have done the best thing out of the whole group in rejecting him yet despite geting interest and charges back, Wonga still appear to be the cruel ones??

There never was an end in sight, if he had continued to borrow, it just gets worse. This seems to have gone unrecognised by all of you.

  • Looks like the 330,000 are newer applications since spring, when the new rules came in.

Wonga's website is another issue, they really need to do some maintenance on it, I think they tried to the other day and it's still as dodgy as ever, a great reflection of the whole organisation I guess:rotfl:
