speed cameras no longer need the dashed lines on the road

spotted a few of them in London, to be honest, i am a bit surprised it took them so long to roll these out because police mobile speed cameras are able to catch motorists without depending on the dashed lines.

The lines aren't required anyway - not sure they ever have been - certainly not for a long time. A secondary check can be performed by phtotogrammetry without them.0

What he said ^^
AFAIK the lines were only there so that there was a quick and easy way of verifying the camera's speed data.0 -
The lines were a back up only.0

Lines = second check
If you dispute a speeding ticket, the lines were there as a backup. Radar traps can be affected by things like high sided lorries and can flash innocent motorists as a result.
If you get flashed by a camera without lines, you could potentially wriggle out of it. But the if your carrying an onboard camera you could also (with a bit of work) use the lines to prove your own speed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You wouldn't be able to get out of an offence simply due to a lack of dashed line as they are not part of the Gatso's type approval, the speed can be verified without tthe lines using the two photos but it's more difficult.

point being, a dashed line is a warning that there is a speed camera. Now you can easily get speed cameras without any dash being obscured by trees.0

Everyday I drive 4 miles out of my way to avoid that sh*t. Even if it does cost me more in fuel.
It's not just the limits and the speed cameras waiting to catch you out, but also the constant narrowing/opening of the dual carriageway causes other drivers to behave like lunatics, which means your paying more attention to the f**kwit that's trying to kill you, than your paying to the speed camera Talivan hiding behind the petrol station sign.
It's a deliberate and calculated attempt at making money by causing chaos in order to catch out drivers. Worse is the corruption that lies behind it, the Police, the camera partnership, the local council, all involved in this scam.
The Police are under budget restriction and glad to be rid of speed enforcement to concentrate on their "targets", but the others? Well, somebody is certainly making a nice little nest egg for themselves at our expense.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Do I take that to mean that you have been caught by (at least) one?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
