For those on Android devices, install the Show Box app (Search on Google as its not on the Play store) and install Local Cast.

This app will allow you to stream latest movies to your TV via Chromecast. The Local Cast app is needed to for this.

I bought a Chromecast yesterday and set it up last night.

I use an old Netgear Router which didn't work, a search on the net to find a lot of people with the same issue and no really cure. But a fiddle of the router setting and everything was knackard, no internet on my iPad or laptop. Somehow I got into the router setting on my iPhone and set it all back to how it was; so after having to reinput my password on everything again, some swearing and several thoughts of why did I buy this bloody thing, it connected to my iPad, don't ask me how / why or what I did, but did....!!!

Anyway; I tried YouTube and it works fine first time, then BBC iPlayer and that worked just as well, then BT Sport that all fine (a little lag to start off compared to the others, but far from major) and than I tried Now TV; I had to set up the App. and setup an account so I could get the Free Entertainment pack for 3 months (must remember to cancel in January) so that's nice for the winter nights and will take me over Xmas. Again it worked fine but not sure I'd pay £7 a month for it (as of 16th Oct) and I can also claim 30 days of the Movies pack for free, which will be something to watch now X-Factor / SCD are on. So over all I pleased with it, there will be more you can do with an Andriod device but the cost of the free Now TV stuff makes the Chormecast cheaper and I can also watch Now TV direct on my iPad when out / away so another bonus. I don't have Sky so Now TV gives me a few extra channels (wish I knew someone with Sky Sport who doesn't use Sky Go so I could use it to watch F1), so may not be as much benefit if you do have Sky.

I been given an Apple AV cable so connected that to my TV and I can watch Films / Video from off my iPad on my TV via that, it's not as easy as casting but it's a work around.

Looks interesting. Got them downloaded and installed - just need access to the TV to try it out. (DD has just bought an Anime box set of blurays and is working her way through them). :rotfl:

    Chromecast measure the signal strength.
Via your router find Chromcasts IP address .
    Something like 192.168.77
    Add to the address :8008/setup/eureka_info?options=detail
Put that in a browser and you should get back a large page of text .At the bottom you will find signal strength . This allows you to find the best position for the device .
    {"historically_succeeded":true,"num_check_connectivity":0,"num_connect_wifi":0,"num_connected_wifi_not_saved":0,"num_initial_eureka_info":0,"num_obtain_ip":0},"signal_level":-51

I gave it a go - didn't work. EVERYTHING I tried from Show Box would display "Format not supported" when LocalCast connected to the Chromecast. :(

Can't remember if I tried AllCast. I did try Web Video Caster and BubbleuPnP with either no display or the same issue.

Tried Allcast ... it just says "There is no content playing". :(

Show Box, Allcast, Localcast, Web Video Caster and BubbleuPnP all now UNinstalled.
