I can not change my hours, other people depend on me being at certain place at certain time.. Love my job by the way

Previous contract was a completely different story as I was flying to deliver trainingand when I was in the office - my connection was MUCH better but got tired of living on planes/in hotels so working ermmm locally now :) .

Will see where I end up past January but will definitely consider distance/connection before accepting next contract

    Nite xx

Where I was brought up in Lancashire there was a bus on Wednesday and a bus on Saturday. Out at around 0600 and returning at 1630. You could set your watch by those busses but in London there's so much public transport you get spoiled for choice. I look forward to disrupted services and sit down and watch all the lemmings running around. It's a magic system in London. If there's no tube there's a bus, if neither there's the overground or national rail, black cabs, mini cabs, river boats, Emirates Air. Sort of shows how the South has been spoiled. If I got into work late and told my boss the transport was knackered he was okay with it because he generally was caught up in the same crap. And there's a great compensation package. Could pay for your annual holiday if it's regular enough.

Trains from Manchester to Stockport were cancelled on Tuesday because of somebody on the line. In London in a similar situation you can just hop on a bus or tube and your season ticket will be accepted. In Manchester you have to pay again, and the bus fare was twice what it would have been in London!

i get into victoria in the morning.

    need to be liverpool st.

two ways i can get there: circle/ district line (to aldgate) or victoria THEN central

now the latter way is slightly quicker, but due to the insane overcrowding and the unreliability of the central line, i prefer the old, reliable district/ circle line

    crazy stuff

Theoretically yes BUT - I do nto think you can imagine the amount of people evacuated from ONE station all trying to get onto a bus outside. So in practice not so straightforward.

JC - I am looking at longer route too now.

When I was travelling to Paddington life was easy, one bus to East ham, catch Hammersmith and City there (always had a seat) and all the way withouut changes and madness of the central line.

I am now looking at a bus to train station, train to stratford, (train not tube), then Jubilee line as it starts in Stratford so MUST be better than Central that already arrives in Leytonstone/Wanstead full. Then Jubilee to London Bridge and Northern from there.

Will probably take me longer BUT I really can not suffer central line 12 times per week....

Yup, that I have seen all today - peopl;e are just awful having a go at the poor front line staff blaming THEM for any issues....and felt really sorry for them myself as some people were completely out of order. But that is another matter.

I am really upset that despite paying such a lot of money - I am subjected to horrific conditions while traveling to/from work. If cattle was transported this way - RSPCA would get involved. Because it is people - well.. it just goes on.

Fellow comutters "forgetting" to have a shower/change clothes, backpacks hitting others in faces as they wear them and "forget" they do turning randomly, smelly food, music so loud that can hear it when I do nto want to (have headphones on? so why am I forced to listed to YOUR music when I do nto want to, turn it down, right downnnnnnnnnn), rybbish everywhere, chewing gum everywhere, spilt drinks everywhere, chips with VINEGAR (!!!!) on the tube, extreme heat regardless of time of the year etc etc....

No, can not move and no can not change the job - I travel where I have to depending on what contract I am doing at any given time. My current one means traveling from North East to South West - prettymuch from "top right of the tube map" to "bottom left of the tube map"

Just wanted to have a moan as really tires me out..
Get on at leytonstone high road and go from there to the south east then

I used to travel to work using the Northern Line or Jubilee or FCC at various times. When FCC trains were suspended for some reason (power, trespassers etc) , the buses or tubes accepted surface train season tickets. I know there are lots of people to move but in London it was orderly. On Tuesday, the situation in Manchester Piccadilly was chaotic, with contradictory instructions on the PA and buses not accepting rail season tickets. Apart from having to pay twice, the bus fare was double what it would be for an equivalent journey in London!

Trukdiver - Oh, I have a monthly travelcard so can use anything but the issue is when a tube line is down - you simply can not get on a bus they are so crowded. But I do feel for you if on top of time inconvinience you also have to pay twice....

Keyser - Have to check that, thanks - although I have no idea how could I easily get from where I am to Leytonstone High Road...will check though, thanks for that.

Ok, checked - unless I am completely blind all I see from Leytonstone High Road is a connection to Tooting with 3 changes and taking nearly 2 hours. It would take me around 30 min min to get to Leytonstone High Road from home and then about 30 min to get to work from Tooting so.... unfortunately nope :( But thanks

    Looking at the map:

    http://images.trainwatch.co.uk/tfl/tuberailcombined.png

The connection LOOKS easy , from Wanstead or Leytonstone (to both I have to get a bus) Central to Bank and then from Bank Northern to Tooting Bec. and then a bus again. Should close all in 1.5 hours each way but hardly ever do...

Will try another route next week - bus to Manor Park, train from Manor Park to Stratford (t, Jubilee from Stratford to London Bridge, Northern from London Bridge to Tooting Bec and a bus.... Will try this for a week and see if worth changing.

I just want to avoid Central Line all together - Northern from Bank or London Bridge going south iin the morning and from Tooting bec going North around 5 up to Bank is s fine/empty but Central is killing me.
