  • Afternoon MSE land.

I have done some more overtime today. 2 more hours this afternoon while DS napped and I will try and do 2.5 tomorrow. Will mean 7.5 for the week as did 3 on Monday. Only this week and next week to get through and I finally finish for Christmas and maternity leave :) Should have 30 hours overtime by then which will be a nice bonus at the end of December. Knackered from doing it on top of everything else, but I'm almost done and it will be worth it in the end when I can whack it in the emergency fund and car mot fund.

Haven't found anything else to sell yet. I will try and do that on Friday so I can list the stuff this weekend. I find more people spot things for sale on the local selling groups when it's the weekend as they are off work.

Weekly food shop arrived this morning. Got some good half price deals on joints of meat so have put it all in the freezer to save some money on future shops. Blackboard is all written up with the weeks meal plan so I know what needs using up first. Pork chops and mash tonight. Yum!

Haven't spent any money today so third NSD in a row for now. Still need to find a gift for hubby from the kids so may end up spending something online tonight if I can find something he'll like.

Last parcel STILL hasn't arrived. It said between 5th and 9th so was expecting it by today. If there is no sign of it tomorrow then I will have to email to find out where it is. That's the second parcel delivery that's been messed up as B**ts sent me the wrong item by mistake and had to resend the correct one.

  • Was hoping today would be a NSD but I ended up ordering the Christmas present for DH from the kids. But as I didn't order it last night, yesterday did end up being a NSD so swings and roundabouts. Used it as an excuse to order the last couple of bits I need for when baby comes, so I should have everything I need now. Was a spendy day anyway so figured I may as well buy the rest of what I need and have some NSD's later on this week.

That's everything for Christmas sorted apart from the food, which we will buy nearer the time. Just the wrapping to go which is my worst job really.

Need to squeeze in a couple of hours overtime today. Only about 2.5 hours so I will do that tonight. Office day tomorrow and then working from home on Friday. Time is flying so fast at the moment. I'm 35 weeks pregnant now and after the weekend only have next Wed, Thu and Fri (1/2 day) to go before I finish for maternity leave.

  • One more day at work finished. Just tomorrow and then 2.5 days next week to go. Hate wishing time away but it can't come fast enough now.

Had to put petrol in the car today, but was out of my budget. Tomorrow I am working from home so will be a NSD.

Still waiting on this parcel. I'm going to chase them tomorrow.

Hubby had some great news earlier. He was apparently mis-sold PPI on 4 accounts and can claim it back. They're ringing him tomorrow to go through everything. No idea how much he'll get back as he's apparently only ever had 2 loans and an overdraft with this bank, plus a savings account and ISA. There won't be PPI on the 2 savings accounts obviously so no idea what these 4 accounts are. Still, even if it's only a grand it's more money in our savings.

That's great news! Fingers crossed it's a decent amount but I guess anything will be a bonus!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)
  • Thanks Twiggy. We didn't think he'd get anything back at all, so it's all a bonus really. Hopefully we'll find out a bit more tomorrow morning when they ring him :)

  • Didn't manage to get on here yesterday.

Relisted a load more things to sell today. Still have some stuff to sort out, but need to do that once DS is up from his nap. Have so many things kicking about that I can't wait to get rid of it now. Should free up some of our limited storage too.

Hubby missed the call back from the PPI people so they are ringing him again on Monday afternoon. It's a pain as he used a reclamation company and on doing a bit of research, it seems some of them charge 25-30% ! I know he wasn't even thinking he'd get anything back at all so some money is better than none, but had I known, I would have attemted to do the claim ourselves first. Still, it's done now, so no point feeling annoyed about it.

1 more parcel arrived this morning so just waiting on the last one for my dad to come. It's late so I emailed them and they said it's still on it's way, they just have a bit of a backlog. Hope it comes on time! I'll be annoyed if it doesn't as I ordered it at the start of the month, so not like I left it to the last minute.

Today I am hoping to get all my sorting out jobs done. Have no energy to do any of them, but getting nesty again so want everything organised before bubba arrives.

  • Hubby just doing a tip run to get rid of some rubbish we have kicking around. Also chucked in a few of the things I've been trying to sell with no success. If I wasn't so heavily pregnant, I'd persevere with trying to sell them, but they are in the way and we just have no space. Nesting is seriously kicking in so want the place organised and sorted in case baby comes early.

I got the moses basket down today too, and popped it in the living room. Still a couple more weeks until I am full term but want my son and the cat to get used to it being there before we put a live baby in it! DS has already spent time pushing it around the living room like a baby walker, but he seems less bothered now. The cat has had a sniff or two as well, but I think he remembers it from when we bought DS home (and hugely put his nose out of joint) so has steered well clear!

  • Hate waiting in for deliveries. Hubby has got 5 or 6 arriving this week so I am stuck in the house with DS as they are coming over several days. So annoying as I just know that most of them will end up arriving on Wednesday just to annoy me!

Had a bit of a sort out yesterday so things looking better here now. Still tons to do, but I will try and crack no this week as much as I can. Getting tired so quickly now, I have to keep sitting down.

Hopefully DH will find out about his PPI claim this afternoon. They are ringing him at 3pm so will be interesting to see what they say.

  • Well hubby missed the call again as his signal is bad at work so they are trying again on Wednesday otherwise it won't be until new year. He's a nightmare. I told him to put a reminder into his phone so he can go somewhere quiet that definitely gets a signal at work 5 mins before they are due to call and he didn't!

Finally wrapped all the christmas presents so that's another thing off my list. Just need a few bits for a stocking for my son. Not going mad as he's only 1, but my step-daughter will be getting a stocking so we need to give him something too so she doesn't question why he doesn't have one and have the magic ruined for her. Think next year he might understand a bit more.

More washing today, all the bedding is being done. Hate trying to get it dry at this time of year as we only have indoor airers and no tumble drier. Good for fuel bills, but makes the place feel like a chinese laundry!

Food shopping coming this morning. Meal plan has been done for the coming week so just need to transfer it onto the blackboard in the kitchen.

Need to check my bank account and update YNAB too, so I can check where I am with Christmas spending. It's all budgeted for, but just need to make sure it balances now.

Other than that, will be a general tidy up and sort out and some relaxing, as back to work tomorrow unti Friday. 3 more days and maternity leave finally kicks in :)
