Can anyone please give me some advice..
My daughter bought a yearly bus pass for Uni online.
The bus pass was posted to her uni address which she was staying at the time.
When she looked to track the bus pass on Royal Mails system it said it had been delivered and signed for.
So she immediately went round the neighbours and house mates asking to see who has signed for it... but no one had..

So she calls RM and they said its been signed and delivered.. ok
So went to ask Bus company but they said its been sent out and it not their problem anymore... they said if thats the case then she should report it to the police.
so went to the police and they said we couldnt report it.

So what do we do now... daughter does need the bus pass immediately and will need to pay each time until she gets another... but we did not receive the original one!!1

Is her uni address a house, flat,HMO?
If she doesnt have it then get her to visit her local delivery office.
They can track the items delivery location scan however the data is only available for a limited time.

Does that pass have her photo on it, and/or does it have to be swiped on the bus? If so then perhaps the bus company could cancel it and issue a new one, but she may need to go higher up in the company to get someone who has the authority to do that.

Yes the pass does have her name and photo on it... the pass doesnt need to be swiped just shown to the driver.
Already tried at the bus station and they will not do it.
We said to the Bus to cancel the old one and issue a new one ..but no..

Already tracked the item with RM and they even show u the signature.

I think it should be the Bus that claims against Royal Mail, cos they sent it out... but then RM have the signature to prove they had delivered it.
But as we all know anyone could have signed for it..

I recently had a postman sign the special delivery himself then leave the item in an open porch. I was less than impressed. Worth following up on the signature and any details RM have.
Also, what is the bus companies policy for replacing lost bus passes? Check with customer services rather than the local depot.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I love the fact my postman does this.

Not when the whole point of special delivery is to make sure something valuable/important arrives safely indoors at the intended address and you need the proof. If someone walking past had seen and nicked it, where would that have left me? Probably with RM saying "but it was signed for...."

A different tack then: how did you pay? If you paid by card then you can ask your bank to do a Chargeback for non-delivery.

  • Ask for a copy of the signature to see if its readable or recognisable

  • They have already seen the signature (post #4)
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
