  • sainsburys are the cheapest near me anyway! always on par with asda!
Tesco's is always the dearest. usually 2p more!

i just wish they would be as competitive with their in store pricing. its always far too dear!

The Sainsburys and Tesco near me are both currently 125.9 and 126.9 per litre respectively. If they were to cut 5p per litre from these then that would be great news.
  • "Spark a price war"...

Is this where the big 4 supermarkets reduce fuel by 2p then raise it again in 2 weeks time.

    LOL.

    LOL.

I keep hoping to see them issue a joint statement denying price collusion.
  • Never liked Sainsury's petrol ... always seemed a bit too, well petrolly to me.
  • I paid 126.7 at ASDA yesterday.

I think buying and selling futures are tax free, but there is a transaction fee. If so, they can make money on the hedging side, but lose money by selling petrol at below cost, incurring a tax deductible loss. Overall, they still make money.

Now that would be a win-win situation for Tesco and the driver, with the Treasury the loser. The Treasury is raking in loads on fuel duty already, anyway.

My local Morrisons was selling petrol for 130.9 this morning. Can not believe they can say they offer some of the cheapest fuel in the country!

Looks like lots of noise with little substance. For me Asda -2p to 124.7 and Tesco -1p to 125.9

Just filled up this morning at Tesco, price has been "slashed" by 1p to 125.9 per litre. This is the same price that I was paying in mid August this year!
