Bank says no - could lose new job

To get to the job I need a car. To get the car I need a loan. Halifax says no as nothing is shown going in.
Having refrained from knocking on her head and shouting "Hellooo!" I repeated the situation and offered to show my contract once I have it.
Of course this situation makes sense to you, but it should also be pretty clear why it doesn't to the bank.
You need job STABILITY for them to offer you a loan, otherwise you are a substantial credit risk.
I don't think you will get a commercial loan from a reputable lender I'm afraid. Do you have a friend or family member who will lend you some money to buy / run an old banger for a few months?
A scooter might be a cheaper option, in terms of initial outlay (bike and insurance). You'll need to get your CBT but this is under £90 and can be done in a day.0 -

If the OP has held their full car licence since before 1 February 2001, he/she could get a moped, and take straight to the road, sans CBT and L-Plates.0 -
A 15 miles cycle at 2am or 4am would be a breeze. How much do you want the job?0

Wise words from all of you, thank you. I appreciate biking 15 miles is easy for many but at 53 and out of shape I couldn't do it anymore.
I was only ever talking of hundreds rather than 1000s just to get up and running. The scooter idea is fine, especially if what Bedsit Bob mentioned is right but I still need them to say yes as my savings are nil.0 -

I think a moped is the most reasonable suggestion. All will involve some cost, though.
As a female I wouldn't want to cycle in the dark, so I agree, moped is a good alternative.
15 miles is too far both ways especially, if you are not fit.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

Can you borrow the money from friends and family?Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

To some that may be like running a marathon. I cycle to work a couple of times a week and that's only 8 miles and I'm like sweaty Betty when I get there. Thankfully I work for myself so its ok to look a mess!Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0
