First Time Buyer Mortgage Fraud

hi,
does anyone have a number or address to report a first time buyer mortgage fraud?

I had a private tenancy agreement with a young indian lady i found on gumtree who is still living with her parents, later i realised that she bought that house through the government scheme, which doesn't allow her to let the flat, so i gave her a short notice and left the flat. Now she is letting it to another tenants, although she pretended the last time that she didn't know that she wasn't allowed to let a flat.
thank you

Which of the government schemes? You could write to them and grass her up. As for the mortgage lender, you can get those details from the Land Registry for £3.

Anything else she didn't do? Gas safety certificate? Protected deposit?

If you are concerned it is mortgage fraud, then contact the mortgage lender. For £3 you can download the property Title here. Section 3 'Charges' will list the lender who has a Charge on the property.

However you refer to 'the goverment scheme'. Which scheme? If you mean Help to Buy, then contact the scheme itself.

If you suspect the rental income is not being declared for tax, the HMRC fraud website is here.

    Quite.

So bank robbers should be left in peace. And drivers of uninsured cars. And shop lifters.

Crime is crime and ultimately we all pay for the criminal's gain in one way or another.

The Help to buy scheme is funded by us - taxpayers - why should we subsidise a landlord?

Now, whether this landlord actually IS commiting fraud or some other offence, we can't really tell from the brief details provided, but if the OP thinks so, and wants it investigated, then pointing to the processes for investigation is the right thing to do.

    No! You mis-heard.

That was the teachers saying "No one likes grass".

What does her ethnicity have to do with it?

Don't bring that into it - fraud can be committed by anyone and if you take this further she may claim at you are doing this as you are racist.

I would find put who he mortgage lender is and write to them. We all pay for fraud through higher prices in shops. Morally, you should report this.
  • I'm not sure whether she declare her income rent, but i'm 100% sure she can't let the flat, also she refused doing the tenancy agreement through an agency, and always asked me if i can pay her rent in cash rather than bank transfer

Landlords don't have to use letting agencies. There are many good reasons for them not to.

The bit ive highlighted in bold is something I find interesting though. I would put my life savings (all £3.51 of them) on this woman not declaring the rental income to HMRC.

I didn't mean to be racist at all, there is no need to take it that way
