I asked this exact same question in the Apple Store last week. The very helpful dude (and he was a dude because he was so unkempt!) told me that if I could afford to wait until October then the new Macbooks will be shipped with Leopard. The man without a signature.0 -

hmmm, sorry to be a pain here, but what will the spec differences be? I need it for my degree and Im the first to admit I know little about Macs. I wonder if the price will go up???
I assume Leopard is like Vista to windows is it?0 -
I'm fairly sure there are no physical/hardware spec differences. As a PCer I can't really tell you for certain because if I do buy a Mac in October it will be my first one!
Maybe an Apple geek on here could help?
Otherwise there's this:

Looking at that link I think Ill wait. My lecturer is ordering for me anyway so i can take advantage of the rather generous discount! I believe 3 year warranty is only £58 as well.
Im glad I read this now! Although Im the worlds most impatient person and waiting another 3 weeks will kill me!!!
Do we know when in October? 1st would be good hehe0 -
Smallish update to this...
Spoke to my lecturer who's initial reaction was to whistle through his teeth as lecturers do.... He seemed to think Id be better off buying it now and upgrading to Leopard later, when all the little "quirks" have been ironed out. He was also under the impression that Apple will discount the new Os if you buy a mac within a certain timeframe of new software being released.
Called Apple this morning who will still give no firm date for an October release, and are still actually quite cagey whether it will be released then at all. That in mind I decided Im just going to order the thing when I go into Uni on friday.
I can always "Procure" leopard at a later date **wink wink**0
