  • Hi, I've been looking in this area as my parents live in Whaplode. I would say this property price is too high, you can get a 4/5 bed with 0.5acre for £210k. It looks lovely and in a nice rural area but just too dear.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

They do say kitchen's sell houses and I'm afraid this kitchen is really off putting. However one way to sort this is to replace the work surface with a black one, and replace the flooring which is a bit dated looking. Having the very old fashioned vinyl tablecloth on the table definitely doesn't help!

The property does have a lot going for it, the garden looks fabulous but there are also some things holding it back.

Making changes like this will put off as many people as it will encourage. I'd be planning to take out a worktop if it was black!

Price the house so that people can change things according to their own taste.

I think one issue, as others have said, is that it isn't really a 4 bed house. It's a two bed house where someone is sleeping in the dining room! For a 4 bed property. I think most people would expect a bit more in the way of living space - not simply a lounge and kitchen.

Looking quickly at other properties it does seem overpriced for what it is.

    It is quite dated, too.

I agree that your relatives probably either need to spend a bit of money (perhaps put a shower / wetroom downstairs, or alternatively turn the downstairs rooms back into living space and market as a 2 bed, or they need to be more realistic about the price, taking into account the other properties available in the area.

Thank you all for your comments, they are being passed on and are building a useful picture of how the property comes across to those who aren't used to it (I think we're too close to it to realise sometimes).

I'm not commenting on individual views as one-handed typing is slow! but thank you for your time, it is appreciated.

Obviously the current layout works for the family living there so they can't see any problem with it - a good estate agent will help the owners to see the issues that potential buyers will have but that obviously hasn't happened here.
