    I suppose you might be able to make a claim on the old policy, subject to any time limits on reporting a glass claim, if you could prove that the damage happened while the policy was in force. In practice though that would be very difficult given that you didn't notice the damage until after the policy had expired.

    You certainly can't claim on the current policy though, and I agree that if the worst thing that happens as a result of trying is that you end up paying for the windscreen yourself then you've had a lucky escape.
