Hello all,
I'm in the market for a new tv as mine has broke and to repair would cost £300 so thought I might as well buy a new tv.
I'm looking at spending around the 300-350 mark and ideally ld like a tv bigger than 40" and 3d but the 3d is just a nice to have as matybe at this price I won't be lucky.
Anyone know of any good TVs for my requirements???
Cheers in advance

Don't bother with 3D - it's a dead duck !
Get what you can afford from someone who gives a 5 year warranty - John Lewis or Richer Sounds

My BIL bought a 3D TV then spent £££ on extra glasses for the whole family.
He said watch one film its OK. But halfway into a 2nd film he starts to get headaches. He said several people have commented on feeling a headache starting when watching it for a while.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

There are two types of technology used in 3D TV, active and passive.
Passive just requires polarised glasses - cheap. Active uses very complex electronics in the glasses which rapidly switches the picture on and off - expensive and does give a lot of people headaches.0 -
Richer Sounds have a clearance sale on, now and if you sign up for the regular newsletter, they are sending a voucher for an extra 10-20% off clearance item prices.

I'm with OP on this one...3D *is* a nice to have. I have like 7 3D blu rays and a few games...would my life be radically worse without it? No. Does that mean it's not worth having? No.
If it's £10 or £20 more for a 3D set, I wouldn't cut my nose off...0 -
3D hasn't been the success it was hoped, I concede. However, it's mostly just an added functionality which even some budget sets have as standard. It's no more "required" than other SMART features, but isn't something to be dismissed out-of-hand. Sky may well have ceased broadcasting Live Sport in 3D, but there are still enough cinema films being made in the format to provide many hours of home entertainment from 3D Blu-Rays and TV broadcasts.0

If the OP wasnt looking at the budget end of the market I would agree but when you are looking at cheap and cheerful I would put as much of the money as possible into the TV itself rather than nice to have extras.0 -

^^ this.
My TV's 3D...because it happened to be. Didn't go looking for it, didn't spend a lot of money...just a good deal on a good looking TV, so bought it.0 -

I said it was a "dead duck" - not "not worth having". It certainly isn't worth paying any extra for - well maybe a fiver !
There is so little broadcast 3D programming I would say it is only a matter of time before it vanishes altogether. The Daily Wail called it an "expensive flop" - must be true....:rotfl:
I have 3D on my Panasonic - it was there when I bought it, it was quite good at times. I don't pay nice Mr Murdoch anymore - so goodbye 3D.0 -
It'll get popular again when Avatar 2 comes out.0
