BMW - The Ultimate Driving Delusion?

Yes. Exactly. People like you are brainwashed into thinking BMW drivers are sheep
By who/what?
I form my own opinions, based on tangible fact.
To be brainwashed, one has to think the way a person or political force wishes one to think.
I don't follow the crowd, i'll argue the toss with anyone and on any subject. I challenge popular misconceptions and popular opinion and IDGAF if that in turn makes me unpopular, the truth is more important than simply agreeing with idiots, for sake of staying "in with the in crowd".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Rubbish. It only takes a little too much throttle on theexit of a damp roundabout, and you've got the back end of an Elise stepping out. You can do it at 30mph iif you like, or even less.
30mph, on a roundabout, in the damp, and accelerating while effectively taking an S bend (r/h turn on roundablout to l/h turn on exit), usually with adverse camber (because of the trasition from round bit to straight bit), on a public road.
That's firmly in the category of beyond idiocy that I was talking about!0 -

Actually, that does make you pretty cool.
Partly for knowing someone with one you could borrow, but more for the fact that they were willing to lend it to you. That speaks volumes about your driving unless the owner was insane, or was hoping for an insurance payout :beer:0 -

Wow 4 pages, and yes I have read it all now, before anyone gets their panties in a pickle...
Some praise for bmw, makes a change.
Is mainly the !!!!!! drivers that make people dislike them I feel.
But most have them have moved over to Audi now.
For the average Joe, bmw is often a cheap way to get into a manual rwd drivers car.
They now do some very quick diesels, so that's another plus point.
123d and 535d appeal to me for next car, shame 535d is auto only.0 -

You convinced him to swap a Phaeton W12 for a Citigo? Wow!!!
How much would you charge to negotiate my next pay rise? :rotfl:0 -

LOL. I've never owned a Citigo. Hired an UP! a few times though, and they're brilliant.

There are a lot of assumptions here which are quite misguided, regurgitated nonsense lacking any form of individual thought and education.
I drive a BMW and I’m not a banker or yuppy but someone who appreciates what the car can give to me. I love engineering, motorbikes, cars, ships, aircraft anything which propels along. I sold my motorbike this year and I needed a family car so I combined a fun car and family car into one. Ok, a car is not a bike but the BMW is something of an engineering wonder and people who don’t appreciate engineering and look at a car as simply a mode of transport then finish reading here. Those who are left I want to give you an insight and some facts from a BMW driver.
The car I have is a F31 330d. This is an estate car for my wife, baby and daughter; it carries the shopping home and takes us out for the day, a sensible car. It is very economical but also very comfortable, myth bust1, the suspension is excellent soaking up bumps nicely.
I also indicate, I don’t tailgate, I let people in or out of junctions, I drive within the speed limits on urban roads and through villages I generally sit below the 30 mph, here I use judgement and drive to the conditions but never speed, speeding is a real pet hate of mine. On the motorway I also drive to the conditions. My car is a 330d which means 0-60 in5.5 seconds, 155 mph top speed, 280 bhp and the torque is around 560 Nm. These figures seem perverse especially when I can get a combined mpg of 45 mpg. Forget the 0-60, what torque and power gives you is the ability to overtake safely, to merge into traffic, to do 70mph at 1500 rpm.
I am not a sheep but somebody who embraces new technology and excellence in engineering. There is no other car that drives or feels or is in the same league as a 3 series BMW and you can argue with me and the dozens of car journalists and the many joyous owners about it but there is no denying that when it comes to the ultimate driving machine the BMW is hard to beat, in fact it cant be beaten.
Just an aside; Top gear have down rated the BMW driver and elevated the Audi driver to being a c0ck drivers car and the sad thing is that most people believe this. It’s just a thought from a car show, don’t believe it. There are many, many drivers driving many different cars behaving in an inconsiderate way, it isn’t just a problem for one marque and to think so is misguided.0 -

Is this the one top gear were torn between and the 320d for being all the car you ever need?
That torque figure is 10% more than the E39 M5, and I had the traction chirp once dropping it from 6th to 5th at about 50mph in the dry.0
