iPhone 6 bends in your pocket

9 people affected. That's a lot. Out of 10,000,000 sold

And how many of that nine actually deliberately bent their phone for the sake of YouTube hits?====0 -
What we see is that, when bending, S4's screen breaks first - before the body deforms irreversibly.
For iPhone it's the body that deforms irreversibly first.
This can mean just that S4's body is more flexible than the screen while iPhone's body is less flexible than the screen.0 -
Was thinking of going for this phone luckily i didn't with the bending issue.
My advice would be if it bothers you, return the phone as you generally have 16 days to return it no questions asked(If purchased directly from apple)
If purchased under contract would check & see if theres a cooling off period within terms and condition.
Off course if your not too fussed so be it.0 -
There is no issue as far as I can see. It'll be someone who is at the wrong end of the scale sitting on their phone at the wrong angle that's crushed their phone.0

The tests aren't comparable as the force may or may not be the same.

The way I see it, you can break anything you set your mind to, some people break an iPhone, others break a Galaxy, and some YouTube folks will break everything just to get the hits on their channel...====0 -
This is been totally blown out of proportion. just a few media attention seekers.

Apple statement:
Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. They also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry. We chose these high-quality materials and construction very carefully for their strength and durability. We also perform rigorous tests throughout the entire development cycle including 3-point bending, pressure point cycling, sit, torsion, and user studies. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all of our high quality standards to endure everyday, real life use.
With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus. As with any Apple product, if you have questions please contact Apple.
9 people out of 10 million units sold wordwide should put things into perspective but no doubt haterz will hate0 -

Regardless of what "high-quality materials" they use, they can't keep recklessly and pointlessly reducing the thickness of the phone. It's just common sense really, not to mention the elementary mechanics and structural integrity. Does anybody really care about these fractions of millimeter? If they want to keep reducing the thickness they have to change the entire concept and start designing flexible phones instead of trying to increase the strength of a too thin handset by some "titanium inserts".
That said, I have already agreed above that trousers' pockets is the last place where modern big and non-flexible smartphones have to be carried in. It has to be either a bag, or a jacket or a belt pouch/case.0 -

What a surprise, Apple release a new product, people frantically rush to find something wrong with it and when somebody stumbles upon something that can and has occurred on other devices, jump on the Apple hating band wagon to slag them off.
There are people who jump to the defence of Apple, naturally there will be, i am often one of them but I can also see when Apple have done wrong, ie. Antennagate, Mapsgate etc. On this occasion though, I feel that Apple have come under unnecessary attack from people who LOVE to slam Apple almost more than people who like to defend them. Have we actually seen a video of somebody sitting down, with the phone in their pockets and the phone bending, we have only seen videos of some exerting quite a lot of physical force on the phone.
Oh and people need to get the facts right, it is the iPhone 6 Plus that has been supposedly bent in somebody's pocket not the iPhone 6.
I have had a iPhone 6 from launch date, I am "big" and therefore my jeans are not the loosest, my phone is always with me and in my pocket, to date, no evidence of bending whatsoever.0
