What is ATF?
Automatic Transmission FluidIf any sludge is dislodged won't be cause more damage by blocking up turbo vains etc.?
The turbo's vanes don't come into contact with oil - but, yes, dislodging sludge does run the risk of the sludge blocking various oilways. If the sludge is just in the bottom of the sump, though, it'd be caught by the strainer on the pickup, then the oil goes through the filter before going through the majority of the engine.
The best solution is not to let the engine sludge up in the first place. Change the oil regularly, using good quality oil. If you think there's sludge or other dark matter in the sump, remove the sump and clean it.0
