It's started....

Boots2_zpsc34d8d32.jpg

I received my invitation to a Boots points event (at the start of OCTOBER :mad:) and went shopping to find this being set up in store.

I mentioned this to a shop assistant and she seriously told me that it was late being put out this year.

It's normally the first or second week in September that the Christmas gear starts being put on the shelves.

The Card Factory, she carried on, had Christmas cards on the shelves at the end of July.....

:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:

    Anyone would think these stores are in it to make money wouldn't they? ;)
    Personally I'd rather shop early than participate in the December scrums.

    Good point.

    Also, there is a big difference between having some area set aside for Christmas goods (which obviously implies that people do want to buy already - otherwise they wouldn't waste valuable retail space), and decorating the whole shop whilst playing ghastly 'Christmas music' (instead of nice, traditional, carols, which sound good, even to militant agnostics).
    There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

    And most importantly, it gives me more time to buy [STRIKE]and eat[/STRIKE] Cadbury Snowballs :D
  • I saw some mince pies in Sainsbury's yesterday, just a little stack but it begins!

    I'm always puzzled when they sell Christmas-specific foods with dates ending in October or November!

    Mind you in Bath there's a high-end Christmas shop open all year round - they've been there for years and years, so people must want it!

    It puzzles me why people seem to think you can only eat Mince Pies in December. I love a mince pie as do many of my family and they will buy them as soon as they appear in shops. DH has been eagerly awaiting Waitrose Christmas Cake slice since January.
  • OOO that reminds me..... Anyone know where I can get a Creme Egg ???
    Haaaaa :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
