Good for you Cydney!
My husband has severe smoking related health issues and through the stress of it all I continued to smoke. My kids are terrified I will also become ill so I'm on every prop available, but haven't actually lit a cig for ten days which is a miracle!£216 saved 24 October 20140 -
Welcome Cydney
feels like a lifetime ago that I used to smoke when in fact it's only been just over a week! My whole routine has changed for the better and I'm finding I have more time for everything as well as more money, things are getting done quicker, my house smells better (so do I!) and although I'm starting to get a bit of a wheeze in my chest I actually feel healthier.

Hello flutterby83 I'm drinking loads of chai tea today and am absolutely freezing and a bit wheezy/coughy today too. Have you knitted anything for xmas yet?
I've just been out the back for the first time in ten days as I don't go outside with my e cig - two throws on the line still, forgot all about them! Also have to face emptying my disgusting ashtray out there that I forgot, now full of water and smells terrible!
Have a good night tonight ready for day 11.
I'm decluttering our house in baby steps and feeling good that I've done one bag of tax receipts today. Tonight plan on getting ten things to sell on ebay and will wash them without fear of them ponging of smoke!£216 saved 24 October 20140 -
I'm a bit late to the party, but can I join in?
I usually smoke 6 roll ups a day, but have finished my university course now and the stress has gone, so I'm finding I don't really want to smoke more than two.
Today's the day though, as I've decided to give up completely. I also have health issues which are affected by smoking and the last time I saw my consultant she wrote a letter to my GP saying that I've refused to stop smoking. I was so embarrassed. So, here I go.
Wish me luck

ETA I spend £20-£28 a month on smokes. Just did the demotivator so I'm definitely going for it now.
Hey Cydney, I'll add you to the list nowWell done for taking the first step!
Hopefully the freezing weather has helped you to stay indoors rather than going out for a cigarette. That's one bonus of the cold! Well done to everyone for reaching day 10, you're almost two weeks without smoking now, that's incredible!
It's great that some of you are using the Demotivator, it helps me when I want to go and buy that coffee or magazine I know I don't really need.
It's really lovely to see you all doing so well and I'm really enjoying reading all your updates daily - this is the first thread I check in the mornings
Keep up the good work!

Sounds like me youth leader, I've avoided the back garden as I'm a wimp when it comes to the cold although I didn't leave anything on the line this year (I normally do!) I bought some chai tea yesterday but haven't tried it yet. As for Xmas presents, I've done a cowl for my mom and a teddy bear for my friends baby due in December so far but my list seems endless, good job I have more time now
I'm currently knitting my 10 year old a jumper as her wardrobe seems empty of winter gear at the moment, I think she had a growth spurt and now nothing fits! I seem to be getting somewhere with the decluttering though, tax receipts are my mortal enemy so I'll leave those to someone else

Thank you for the welcome
Struggling a bit this first day but I've held out so far. Real test will come on monday when we start having our granddaughter while daughter returns to work.
I shall see if I can get hold of some Chai tea for that.

Personally I don't want to like the vapour, I am just using it as a prop for the moment and hope to wean myself off it in eight weeks.
I have, however, just discovered how much I like chai tea by teapigs - smells and tastes lovely! Cheers till tomorrow!
Perhaps I should have been clearer mate. When I say "find a liquid you like" I really meant, find one which is most acceptable.
Remember everybody that in many cases your health may feel worse for a while as your body rids itself of the toxins. Some people report loads of sniffles, colds, wheeziness, production of phlegm and more. It has put some people off their quest as taking a cigarette sometimes alleviates the symptoms as you satisfy the body's nicotine craving.
Hang on in there - work through it as your body rids itself of poisons and tar. You will feel so much better when the process is finished.0 -
Hello GlynD, you are right and toxins are definitely leaving me!
I am coughy/wheezy but I do think my face looks about a week younger than last week! Sadly can't ever get my gums back but at least I should keep my teeth now if I persevere and don't give in.
I'm keeping busy and planning my 'retirement', as well as christmas - and have just booked to visit my daughter at Leeds Uni in early November. She's doing theatre studies and english lit and got the part of the Earl of Gloucester in King Lear, which I read one night when I couldn't sleep - will look forward to seeing her act, but not the play, particularly! Will be good not to have to stand outside her Halls under the dripping trees smoking - and she is proud of me, which is priceless.
Have a good evening, see you tomorrow!£216 saved 24 October 20140 -
Visiting non smoking family in Germany at present which is helping a lot... but had a blip on the day I arrived. In the bottom of my travel bag was a packet with 5 in and I smoked them.:o Felt awful and had a tight chest the following morning and a cough. Been here 4 days and not had another though.
Got some wool and needles and making snoods for ddil and dgd, so I'll get more and keep knitting in the evenings which is my ' boredom ' time.I read this thread daily as it helps together with the daily emails from stoptober.

Hope everyone has had a good day today, I've got my three pies in the oven, whole pack of potatoes and peas ready for the microwave and two magnums in the freezer, off to watch Boardwalk Empire in a minute. Will deal with the weight later! As I've never been smoke free except when pregnant, I am wondering how 'fit' I'll feel in the months to come - I was even playing with the idea of taking up running after seeing my friend doing a park run today!
So still finding it hard and extremely boring, but do think my teeth might look slightly whiter. Am looking forward to having a pink tongue again, have always felt ashamed of my yellow tongue!
Have kept as busy as possible but have cried a few times today which isn't like me!
Just finished listing lots of interesting junk on ebay, walked my lovely sheltie and have done lots of washing.
So see you all tomorrow on day 12, nearly two weeks, woo hoo!£216 saved 24 October 20140
