Good morning
I'm puzzled as to why a few people seemed scared by my spider pic, since it's only a pic and cannot harm  Believe it or not I am scared of spiders myself and have been since around the age of 7. I'm trying to control the fear though and eventually, hopefully overcome it, since it's silly and irrational. That's why I like the transparent box as I can look at the spider knowing that it can't get to me and at the same time ask myself why I fear such a small, harmless creature  it really makes no sense.
The other thing that puzzles me about myself is that I've been trying to overcome this fear for years and a few times have almost succeeded but in times of stress I go back to being irrationally scared again  It really is frustrating as I'd like to overcome this phobia once and for all :cool:0 -

Dont get me wrong there are some fantastic agency carers out there but Dad would not tolerate a different person each visit.
He did say last week he was happy for a few days in hospice just to see what it is like.
We have been told he would have nurses visit twice a day to check him and make him a cuppa. More care could be arranged when needed. I think if dad is using oxygen every day then we might have gone beyond that. He was quite cheerful in hospital over weekend but as his bloods got low he rapidly declined.
If employing a carer I know he would prefer to see same person most of the time.
Sorry hard to get accross what I mean but if he is getting carer twice a day they will not have the medical knowledge to assess him.
I would prefer to stay with him myself, which he might actually allow now. Sister says they are lurching from one infection to the next. Had been told that nurses would test bloods and arrange when needed.
My sister does play things down a bit but if she has had oxygen training I would have expected them to think she is there all the time (which is impossible).
Dad will not be out tomorrow as stuff not delivered yet.
His attitude to visitors has not changed.
What I dont get is all these agenceies working together Sue Ryder, Macmillan and Marie Curie you would think they would have standardised plans for this illness. We were told will be nurse twice a day as they can approach his needs better.
I am scared of them letting him home and having to go to hospice within a few days after another crisis. The plan we have been told is to keep him out of hospital and comfortable.
Sorry words not coming out right but I think you will understand.

Good Morning
Your words are fine. I totally understand what you mean. It's a very worrying and confusing time.
You might find that things fall into place once he gets home? If you would prefer to look after him yourself then hopefully he will allow that.
As ever, my thoughts are with you. Your Dad is very lucky to have people around him who care so much :kisses3:0 -
Morning all.
Thank you TS about the Green deal.
Now I have a dilemma. I was just about to go ahead and get a new combi installed, but do I wait just incase I can get this, or even more risky, do I get my home assessment done with the hompe I can get this grant? Hmmm, choices, choices.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I am like you. The pictures don't bother me. Looking at spiders in general doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when they start moving and they are in my space! I detest watching the way they scurry and I can't stand the thought of them suddenly scurrying past me out of nowhere.
I guess for some people, looking at them has the same effect? And that's why some people weren't keen on your pic?0 -

Oh no! What I suspected is true
"House spiders that are thrown into the garden by well meaning householders will die from the cold, an expert has warned."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-19962187
I also found this other interesting article about the lifecycle of spiders
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/natureuk/posts/A-life-story-of-large-house-spiders
What am I to do now about the spiders in my house as OH will kill them if I don't remove them and I don't want that to happenI wonder if they'll be ok if I put them in the garage  It's pretty cold in there though :undecided
