My boss has been lying to me!

I do think women are more pre-disposed to it in a way. Some places I've worked with only women and it's been a point-scoring hellhole, whereas others they've been fantastic, lovely and supportive.
However, some men are more b*tchy than women.
Gender is irrelevent at the end of the day. Keep as far away from office politics as possible as nothing good EVER comes out of it. She lied to you because she's a manipulative psychotic cow. As Onlyroz says, get another job as this sort of game-playing will never, ever work out for anyone.0 -
It should have been a massive red flag that the boss was saying things like that about their own employee. If Martha was such a problem then it's her job to sort it out professionally, not to involve the rest of the office.

Nonsense men can play that kind of game too
I do agree that OP needs to start looking for another job though as she'll forever be wondering when it'll be HER turn.
They could, but they rarely do. In fact in 25 years of being in the workplace I have never encountered such two-faced back-biting with the male employers or employees.I do think women are more pre-disposed to it in a way. Quite!
Still, the one thing we all seem to agree on is that the OP needs to get the hell out of there asap!0 -

Hear, hear. I work with some absolutely awful !!!!!ing, lying guys who run around in circles to cause drama and play mindgames every day. It is the women I am able to confide in and seek compassion and understanding, more often than not. (I'm a bloke).Debt Free 08/08/2014

Another addition to the chorus of "run away!", OP! Your boss sounds awful, and she's not going to get better. Some people just don't understand that they are the problem.
There's plenty of alternative explanations that don't involve tarring 50% of the population with the same stereotypical brush, though. They could, but they rarely do. Maybe you don't get on very well with women, they don't like you, and thus you see more of the gossipy side of their personalities?
Maybe you're conditioned by a lifetime of stereotypical assumptions, and so only notice when women are being gossipy and not when the men around you are?
Maybe your workplaces only hired gossipy women?
Maybe your workplaces treated their female employees less well than their male employees, causing resentment and frustration that boiled over into gossipiness?
In the past 10 years I've found the gossipiness of the workplace split fairly evenly. Men can gossip just as well as women.
Although having said that, I just realised this all has very little relevance to the OP's situation. She doesn't work in a gossipy office, her problem is not her gossipy coworkers. Her problem is that her boss is, frankly, nuts. Just her boss, though, not her coworkers. Which would mean her situation has absolutely nothing to do with being (or not being, she doesn't say) in an all-female environment.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep
