This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
DH's birthday today but we won't be doing much due to me still being ill, quiet dinner at home with possibly a glass of wine or 2.
Thanks so much snoozer for the sewing machine advice and also to the very kind OSer who PMed me. Am going to do some online research this weekend then may be back with more questions.
Hester - many congratulations to all the family on the new arrival
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning everyone.
Been awake since nearly 3.00am listening to the referendum results coming through. My council are yet to declare even though the ballot boxes from the islands arrived by plane and helicopter. PS in edit...just seen the declaration is in. Just
Highlands to come in now.
Going to shower now. Got haircut at half nine and then need to move things around in bedroom ready for the new chest of drawers which is coming this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed as the courier staff may prove difficult. Hope not.
Haven't read all of yesterday's thread but gather that HH's reluctant grandchild had arrived. Congratulations.
Dawn just creeping in. Cows awake. Sheep making a racket and the owl has been hooting away for about half an hour now.
Happy Friday folks.0 -
Congratualtions Hester xxxxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Wet here and looks like its set in for the day off to work for me but on a course today so lots of sitting down and potentially falling asleep !!

Morning All
Congrats again Hester, glad everyone is doing well even though DGS may be a little disappointed!
TTFTM - Happy Birthday to your OH, hope you feel better soon. Sounds like a horrible dose of whatever it is.
Well, we are all still here, things were a little tense in this area yesterday with some terrible behaviour which resulted in police being called. Just hope everything remains calm.
Hope you all have a good day and are keeping well. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
Congratulations Hester on the safe arrival of your new grand daughter. Hope your DD will recover quickly after such a long labour.
TTFTM happy birthday to your DH too and I hope you will start to feel better soon.
Hooray it's Friday, the girls are running around getting ready for school and hubby has left for work. I am sat here with a serious case of bed hairso I will be jumping in the shower in a sec. I feel a bit unwell today as we had chinese last night and I followed it with some ice cream. Unfortunately it didn't stay in my tummy for long TMI so I feel a bit drained today.
My eldest DD is coming over again today so that will be lovely to see her. The last couple of days my grand son has come home from nursery with loads of paint in his ear, I don't know how he does it, but it looks very pretty.
My other DD's are meeting Malorie Blackman today at their school. I can't say I've read any of her books but the girls are very excited. My youngest wasn't feeling very well when she came home yesterday. I think the long walk home is really taking it out of her but unfortunately that is just how it has to be. I'm sure in a few weeks she will be used to it the same as her sisters.
OS wise, I shall be baking some butterfly cakes as we are planning a movie night and need snackage. I might make a fruit cake too as I have lots of dried fruit in stock at the moment. The house needs hoovering too although now we only have one cat it only needs doing every few days.
Well that's all my waffle for now, hope you all have an amazing day whatever you are up too. Take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
HH - ~Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your granddaughter x
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy, dull and very overcast. Sky has a bit of a pink/red tinge, normally means we’re going to get some rain. It’s quite humid also.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early. DS1 gone to work.
Dinner last night was haggis, mash, carrots, HG green beans, peas and gravy, clean plates all round. Tonight there’s a choice between egg, bacon, sausage etc, or chicken and bacon kievs, chips, beans and salad – whichever they choose tonight they will be having the other tomorrow night. Sunday we’ll be having roast chicken.
Online order arrived – again some things on short date but only a couple.
DH and DS1 will be going to town in the morning, they will visit our bank and then DS’s bank – to make sure that his wages are in his account as it’s the first time he’s been paid. Once I’m back up on my feet I’ll go with him to make sure that his account is still suitable for him and hopefully assist him with setting up a Standing order to his Savings account.
I’m pleased it’s Friday – DH not working tomorrow – we have a list of jobs that need doing – it’s nothing major but things that must be done this weekend. I’m hoping that I can get out for a ride in the car –even if it’s just to parents – starting to get a bit of cabin fever, think some fresh air and a change of scenery would do me good.
Have good Fridays everyone x
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Hester great news, congratulations! xx

The chickens behaved last night – just a bit of flapping at bedtime then they settled quickly. And I have no new injuries
Dentist this morning then will nip to the shops on the way home.
I wanted to get outside today to rake the chicken run, sweep up, etc. but the garden is soaked and it's still raining now.
dumpling A few months ago Henry Winkler visited a local school. The kids were excited to meet a man who'd written a book they'd been reading, the teachers were excited to meet The Fonz

tru - THE Henry Winkler? I would have been excited too!0
